I'm looking for the parents or siblings of Jonathan L. Smith, b. 1815, in Pendleton District, S.C., moved to Walton County, GA with his parents where he married Sarah Ann Bean (1815-1885) in 1835. Sarah Ann was the daughter of John Bean (1792-1871). Jonathan and Sarah moved with their 2 children, John and Rutha (Sarah) Jane sometime in late 1839 to Claiborne Parish, LA where their sons James and David were born. They left LA (Bienville Parish) in 1850 for Jasper Co., TX. Their son Ruben was born in 1855. Jonathan "Jot" Smith died in 1903 in Jasper County, TX. I am currently researching Jonathan's land in Walton County, GA., but have no clue yet as to his parents' names. I would appreciate any help. I will gladly share information and documents.

ECHOLS, Samuel B and BOOKER, William. Any information on either who lived probably in Monroe or elsewhere in Walton Co. in 1827. William BOOKER's son was the notorious John W. BOOKER. The following is excerpted from Brian Bivona's Genealogy Page, http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bbivona/d0002/echols-hist.htm, Brian_Bivona@jrbt.com, "HISTORY OF ECHOLS FAMILY by MILNER ECHOLS, 1850," A short history of our family from the first that landed in America till the present time, as far as I can ascertain. "Old Thos. Wynne's fourth daughter Lucy married William Booker, had by him three daughters and one son, their names were Polly who died, Sally who married Samuel B. Echols and now lives in Alabama. Third daughter Lucinda married William Galbreath, they have one daughter married Absalom Echols Roberts and another married a Mr. Hester and they also have a young son I know not his name. The son of Wm. Booker was the notorious John W. Booker who died in Monroe, Walton County, Georgia." Brian Bivona: "Milner doesn't give many dates, but he has a good bit of helpful information, as well as some amusing descriptions of some of the family. As Milner was born in 1772 and died in 1857, he was old enough to know many of the early family members, and lived long enough to know many of the later ones." ________________________ Walton County, Georgia Records Received of William Booker my father-in-law one tract of land lying on the battle prong of Jacks Creek known as the number one hundred and 40 in the 3rd district of Walton county as my legacy and portion of his estate and which is in full of _______of which I now have or hold or may have as a legatee at his death _____allowed of him four execution ______ in favor of Robert Wilson _____ favor of Charles Wilson or in favor of David G. My ggg grandfather was Hundley Brewer, born in Virginia in 1767. He died in Walton Co. on 31 Oct. 1837. He is buried up on a hill in a clump of trees on H. D. Atha Road. My husband and I were fortunate enough to find his grave several years ago. There is supposed to be another grave there, but we have not found it. I have been trying to locate his ancestors in Virginia, but have had no luck. Since this is such an old grave, I thought you might be interested in knowing of it. The tombstone has a lovely inscription.

My g-g grandfather, James Lewis Dupree, was listed as a wheelright, working for Hardy Treadwell in the 1850 census. James Lewis Dupree married Augusta Austin Haynes in 1852. Augusta was the daughter of Green Berry Haynes, also of Walton Co., GA. It is possible that J.L. Dupree was a Mason, and therefore on the Masonic records of that county. Any help will be most appreciated.
