Using a Side Border Graphic

I hope the information on this page will help you with using my border sets. I have tried several different ways to use border sets and like this the best.
This uses the spacer gif but doesn't put your border into a table. Whenever I used the table technique I did not like the idea that your whole page had to load before anyone could see anything except your border graphic. If someone has a slow modem they will probably leave.
The information here has come from spending hours reading HTML tutorials, looking at people's source code and then experimenting with my pages. I enjoy making border sets and want a easy way for people to use them.
Okay, this is the HTML code for using side borders.
Use this right after your body tag.
img src="any/cgspacer.gif" width="150" height="1500" border="0" align="left"
Don't forget to enclose with tags.

Okay, here is what happens. My design is 150 pixels wide so to keep the text off of it I have to set my width to at least 150. If I use a little more (160) there will be a little margin. For the height you need to experiment. This is the length of your page. If I had put the height at 300 then as you scrolled down my page the text would go over into the border. I set my index page to 3000. My free border sets are set at ??

Interested in why my text isn't next to the border? Take a lot at my Table hints page.

You may right click on the above color to save cgspacer gif to your hard drive and then use it for your pages. It is only 10 pixels x 10 pixels but when you use height and width attributes in your HTML code you can make it any size you want for your page. You can also make one in any graphics program. I made mine a royal blue for the transparency color. You can also call it anything you want.
