Fall Clean-Up
epb1937@scrtc.com
The colorful autumn leaves are falling
And scattering all around.
Guess it's time to clean-up
The carpet of gold, yellow, orange, red and brown.
Where is the garden rake?
Hummmh! Guess it can't be found!
Maybe someone borrowed it last year;
Or is it under the carpet on the ground?
The leaves are a bright, showy display
That's so pretty as they pile up outside.
It's fun to run and jump
Into the leaves and slide.
Imagine all the work ahead;
So, why not under the leaves hide?
I remember as a kid
Which seems not so long ago
Looking forward to the falling leaves
Drifting down so very, very slow.
Now, it's time to tidy-up;
So, the yard can have a last mow.
With the new-found rake, it's time to begin piling
The leaves and filling the hugh lawn sack.
Then, I continue to rake more and more
And the leaves I must push and pack.
Just as the yard is finished, a snow flake is seen.
SOON! On the snowy lawn, I can see my foot-track!
