Three D is committed to playing contemporary, progressive, alternative music, and also support the local arts community. One of their proudest achievements is being the only station in Australia with a forty per cent Australian music content. Also twenty five per cent of their music content is from female artists. Three D was the 1997-98 winner of the H.R.H. The Prince of Wales Trophy for outstanding service to the community. Five UV - In 1972 was the first licensed public radio station to go to air. The format is educational and information based with arts a major second focus. One of Adelaide's most popular community stations and promotes and supports the cultural life of the State, with innovative, thought promoting talks and music programming, including classical and jazz. Five RPH - is information based and began in full-time broadcasting in 1991. The main objective is to gring the world of print to people who for some reasons of age, disability or literacy problems, cannot or read information in printed form. The station is part of the Guide Dog Association of SA and NT and uses a wide range of printed material including newspapers, magazines, books and journals as the basis for its programming. aIt also covers the SANFL and AFL football. 5EBI - has been an ethnic community radio station since 1974, and has developed as an organisation encompassing 42 seperate radio communities, broadcastin in 42 languages. Many foreign groups maintain the culture of their country of origin with passion and energy. Nowhere is this more evident than in their unswerving commitment to 5EBI. 5EFM-

The station provides local news and information whilst also promoting tourism in the region. Major events are locally covered with various forms of our Outside Broadcast facilities. They went to air for the first time in April 1992 from an outside broadcasting van. In June 1994 the Association was granted a lease of a council building, which has now been developed to provide the station with an office complex, two sound proof broadcasting studios and production facilities. PBA - Programming is as diverse as the community itself. The station caters for 13 ethnic languages with specialist music programmes from 10pm. Since commencing full-time broadcasting in 1983 the station has won the major award for public/community service in Sydney and a BASF award for excellence. Located at Para Hills Primary School with two studios and an outside broadcasting unit. THE - started full-time broadcasting in 1993. The general format is adult contemporary and the station actively supports major concerts which visit the area. The station supports the local Country Music Festival and weekly programmes in Italian, German and Dutch. The FM signal reaches Penola, Beachport and Robe. Coast - commenced full-time broadcasting in 1992. Programming is magazine style with jazz, soul, gospel, country, folk, dance, heavy metal, 50's and 60's rock, classical and local artists. Specific programmes cover childcare, environment, lifestyle, health, local news, youth and sporting issues. Ethnic programs cover six languages including Arabic and Filoppino. GTR - commenced official broadcasting in 1983. Programmes are targeted to suit all tastes. Ethnic programmes include Italian, German, Dutch, and Croation. YYY - has been on-air since 1988. The station endeavours to entertain and inform the community including the workers at the BHP steelworks. The format is a mixture of adult contemporary music and alternative 'JJJ' style music, with a strong rhythm and blues component. TCP - is located at Bordertown and has been on-air since 1986. Generally the station has a commercial adult contemporary FM sound during the day and specialist music during the evening. All traffic on the Melbourne and Mt Gambier Highways passes through the listening area and is serviced for three hours of travelling. Alta Mira - presents a fusion of soft rock and light hits - an artful blend of the most common current Top 40 tracks with classic titles fron the 70's, 80's and 90's. The newsroom provides a comprehensive news and weather service, while short segments provide useful hints for living a modern life, reflecting the station's charter to promote traditional values. UMA - Umeewarra Aboriginal Media was established in 1987, to provide a service to Aboriginal people in the area, they operate a video production unit also. This station broadcasts 18 hours a day, 7 days a week for 100 kms around Port Augusta. With lots of country music produced by local broadcasters they aim to serve the wider community also. KIX FM - has been a fully licenced community station for three years. They have studios in Kingscote and a transmitter at Penneshaw and broadcast to Kangaroo Island 7 days a week through satellite link. 5MBS - Adelaide's
own fine music station Broadcasts on 101.5FM and
co-located with 5UV on North Terrace. Each Saturday afternoon, they simulcast
5UV's Blues show in glorious FM stereo and other 5UV programs.
