From today's Toronto Sun: "Mariah Carey & Tommy Mottola: The singer and her Sony exec ex-husband are selling their $40-million, nine-bedroom Westchester County, New York, mansion - complete with indoor/outdoor pools, recording studio and, um, a shooting range. Y'know how it is, they just grew apart - and one day they woke up and they were out of each other's line of fire." Any takers? -Dec 12/97

Here's a little highlight on Mariah's appearance on the Late Show last night. In one word: dissappointing. I guess it's cause I've never watched the show before and David Letterman's sense of humour isn't very inviting to me. But anyways, Mariah was on for about 15 minutes or so, chatting about Butterfly, Tommy and all the rumours and stuff. At the very end of the show she performed a beautiful version of Butterfly, which I believe is even better than the actual recorded one. Or maybe it's just me, I don't know... Other than that, I got a new article from Entertainment Weekly, called Butterflies Aren't Free, you can find it on the articles page. (I didn't put a link straight to the article cause I want you all to see the re-made articles page :-) Well that's all I guess... -Oct 28/97

I'm a little late with this news, but I'm sure everyone already knew that Butterfly is IN STORES across North America, with not only one, but 2 amazing covers, and can also be bought in packages of a CD and cassette. Hmmm that's all I guess, and I'll try to update as often as I can, but that's been a problem lately, so please bear with me here... Mariah Rules! -Sept 19/97

So did you all watch Oprah today? If you didn't, here's what you missed:
It started of with a little clip from the One Sweet Day video. Then there was a short recap of her carreer so far and bits of the Hero, Fantasy, Vision Of Love, Dreamlover, Emotions, I'll Be There and One Sweet Day videos. Mariah first appeared singing Hero. (In my opinion, she's definitely not a morning singer, but it was beautiful anyhow) She was wearing a short, strappy grey dress with 2 slits in the sides. After she sang Hero, she chatted with Oprah of course. First just about her motivation for writing songs. The point of it was that she's "melodically driven," as she describes it. That turned into talk about her new Honey video. Mixed in with how the mega-high-heeled Gucci shoes hurt and how the idea developed, she said that this video shows another side of her that we've never seen before. (Yeah, like we didn't already notice :-) That veered off a bit into talk about tabloids and how they have to put up with all the rumours. Mariah said that she tries not to let it get to her, but it doesn't always work. At the sight of her mansion, Oprah took off talking about her life - past and present. Mariah once again stressed the point that her life hasn't always been a fairytale and she never looks at it that way. Of course, she also gave us the Tommy Mottola story, straight out: She says her relationship with him is great, this is just a little time-out for "personal growth," and definitely not the end. It certainly wasn't the end of the show, she also sang the captivating Butterfly, the title track from her new CD. The show closed with a clip from this summer's Camp Mariah ("Where else can I race against 5 kids and win?") and thanks and thanks and more thanks from Oprah. -Sept. 15/97

Check out Mariah on Oprah on Monday, Sept 15/97. -Sept 13/97

Meet Mariah Carey live at Tower Records (66th & Broadway, NYC) Tuesday September 16/97 from 5 - 7pm. She will be autographing copies of her new release Butterfly. -Sept 10/97

Honey debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles!!!! This is Mariah's 3rd #1 debut and the 6th #1 debut in history! She broke 2 records with this: 1. Most years with a #1 single, 8 years ('90 - '97); 2. Female artist with most #1 hits. She passed Whitney Houston and Madonna who have 11 each. In front of her are The Beatles, Elvis and Michael Jackson. -Sept 6/97

Butterfly get an awesome review from Billboard. I can't wait till September 16th! -Sept 6/97

The first single off Butterfly, Honey, is out on radio stations and MuchMusic (so I'm guessing MTV, too, correct me if I'm wrong). I've heard the song and seen the video. It's quite different from what I expected, more R&B in it I guess (to me she sounds a bit like Mary J Blige at times). Anyways, the single will be out for sale on August 26, and the album, Butterfly, on September 16. And don't forget, a world tour is scheduled to follow the release of Butterfly. That's all for now, I'll add in anything more I find out. -Aug 12/97
