That was scary for a second... there wasn't an Adam Sandler movie in the Best Comedy catagory... but he still made a good movie, Big Daddy, that has all the characteristics to make it a good date movie for guys. # 1, it has lots of funny stuff to laugh at, so even if traditional date movies (a.k.a. chick flicks) aren't your bag you will at least laugh. # 2, you will look like a real "sensitive guy" with your date if you get this movie, which earns you mucho points. And # 3, it has Adam Sandler... the guys movie god. If you can't enjoy yourself at an Adam Sandler movie than I don't even want to talk to you, even if it is a chick flick Adam Sandler movie. |

An Adam Sandler movie got a nomination for the Best DAte Movie two years in a row (Big Daddy and The Wedding Singer) and now the other star from The Wedding Singer, Drew Berrymore, got a nod for her work in this nominee, Never Been Kissed. Berrymore plays Josie Gellar (no relation to Monica and Ross on Friends), a copy editor for the Chicago Sun Times who dreams of being a reporter... and then gets her wish when she has to be a undercover high school student, reliving the years of her high school where she was known as Josie Grossie. Very funny and (dare I say) very cute, a good choice for any date. |

Although Notting Hill didn't get much attention from the Oscars (which I must admit, it doesn't really deserve), it is still a very funny movie that is worth seeing. Luckily for it, I do not have the resources to see as many movies as the Academy, and I have all these cool catagories so movies like this have a second chance. As I said before, Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts both put in good performances, combined with a great on-screen chemistry and some very funny supporting characters to make a hilarious and (dare I say) charming date movie. |

This movie had a lot more of what would be the traditional date movie material... so if you are a guy who is fearful of the stereotypical "chick flick," you may not like Runaway Bride. It is along very much the same vein as Pretty Woman... oh wait, it even has the exact same leading couple in Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. This time around Roberts gets most of the billing as the title character who has a reputation for getting engaged and then running from the altar. Gere plays a cynical reporter trying to prove she is a "maneater," and duirng the course of the film they fall in love... awwwwww. |
