NEW STUDENT ENROLLMENT - June 13, 2000 is the deadline
for students enrolling for the 2000-2001 school year.
CLASSES BEGIN - Tuesday, August 22, 2000. Students are
scheduled for a full day of school.
TEACHER INSTITUTE DAYS - Monday, August 21, 2000;
Friday, January 19, 2001; Friday, April 13, 2001 and Monday, June
11, 2001. On these days teachers are to report at the regular
time. Institute days are non-attendance days for
students and are days held or approved by the State Superintendent
of Instruction for teacher in-service workshops or equivalent
professional educational experiences such as educational
gatherings, demonstrations of instructional materials, visitation
of other schools, institutions or facilities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS - Thursday, August 17,
2000; Friday, August 18, 2000; Friday, October 27, 2000;
Friday, March 30, 2001 and Wednesday, June 13, 2001. On
these days teachers are to report at the regular time. These are
non-attendance days for students. Professional development days
are used for planning, evaluation and staff development.
REPORT CARD PICKUP/PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE DAYS
Elementary schools on Wednesday, November 1, 2000 and
Wednesday, April 4, 2001; high schools on Thursday, November 2,
2000 and Thursday, April 5, 2001. The elementary school dates are
non-attendance days for students in elementary schools. The high
school dates are non-attendance days for students in high schools.
REPORT CARD DISTRIBUTION DAYS - For second marking
period, January 24, 2001; for fourth marking period, June
12, 2001.
WINTER VACATION - Schools close at the end of the school
day on Friday, December 22, 2000 and reopen on Monday,
January 8, 2001.
SPRING VACATION - Schools close at the end of the school
day on Friday, April 13, 2001 and reopen on Monday, April
23, 2001.
GRADUATION DATES - Elementary school graduation dates
must not be held prior to the week of June 4, 2001. High
school graduation dates must not be held prior to Friday,
June 1, 2001.
KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION - The suggested date is
April 2, 2001 through April 6, 2001.
SUMMER VACATION - Schools close for students on Tuesday,
June 12, 2001.
REGULAR SUMMER SCHOOL SESSIONS FOR ELEMENTARY
AND HIGH SCHOOLS
GRADES 3-6-8 SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM will operate for six
and/or seven weeks beginning Monday, June 18, 2001 and will
end at the close of school on Friday, August 3, 2001.
HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER PROGRAM will operate for eight weeks
beginning Monday, June 18, 2001 and will end at the close of
school on Friday, August 10, 2001.
