This page of the website is likely to be under constant revision - as I hope to be adding new items all the time. It is certainly the place to check-on when you re-visit this site for a second or subsequent times - remember to hit "reload"/"refresh" on your browser button bar!
Vauban improved the existing fortifications of literally hundreds of sites, as well as undertaking numerous projects from scratch. I want to cover as many of the important sites as possible. But to begin with I am going to avoid being over-ambitious. I will only cover those places I have visited personally - of which I will have my own photographic images to share with visitors. And I propose to give priority to those works which, to my knowledge, do not feature elsewhere on the internet. Some places do have their own web sites [e.g. Besançon, Colmars, Namur & Neuf Brisach] but the vast majority do not. I hope that by filling in a small part of this void I can offer the visitor something worthwhile.
I should perhaps say here almost all images appearing in this site are from my own personal collection. As a visitor you are more than welcome to download the images [and my maps] on to your PC for personal use & enjoyment. All I insist is that none of them are used in any commercial or wider enterprise unless express prior permission has been obtained.
