If the deadline is not mentioned, subscription to these trees have already ended.
What is this tape tree business?"Tapetree" is a form of distributing recordings. Say, someone has a recording s/he would like to share with others. S/he announces his intentions to "others", after which then everybody who wants to get the recording sign up to a tree as either a leaf (the one who only gets the recording), a branch (the one who gets the recording and then dubs it for others) or a source (= someone who already have the recording and is willing to dub it). Graphically it looks like this: Source | |--Branch | | | |--Leaf | | | \--Leaf | \--Branch | |--Branch | | | \--Leaf | \--Leaf Right after subscribtion period ends the announcer (called administrator) creates tree structure and sends it to everyone involved. Then sources and branches dub tree tapes and send them to their "treechildren" (according to the tree structure), and the children send for every recorded tape they get from their "treeparent" either two blank tapes (the additional blank(s) cover parent's dubbing/sending costs and efforts), or one tape with recording his/her treeparent wishes to get. In the end, everybody owns the inital recording. Click here for more detailed explanation of tapetree concept (written by Gerhard). |
What is Echoes Tape Forest?Echoes Tape Forest is intended as a place for information about Echoes tape trees, such as their describtions, setlists, subscription guidelines, tree structures etc. -- pretty usefull idea which finally got implemented. Echoes Tape Forest is not a place where all the information is stored. To avoid duplication (and to save disk space) its pages link to these fine sites:
If you didn't find what you were looking for in the Echoes Tape Forest, try these fine pages. If you have some information that is not listed here (like an original announcement of a tree that was finished two years ago), please send it to me. Also, if you notice a broken link, missing tag or other problem in the page, don't be too shy to inform me about it. |
