Don't Mistake Legibility for Communication

Poster

After studying the recent works of David Carson, I was inspired to create this image based on a statment I had read in a collection of his art. The concept of illegibility being it's own form of communication was intriguing to me, that sometimes illegibility can convey a message in the best way.
The background image is a picture of my own eye, taken from a screen capture of a video feed into my computer. I manipulated the image into this halftone-embossed state, to where my own eye almost became unrecognizable. It exists now as more of a curious texture in the background, with the quote floating awkwardly above it. All work was done in Photoshop, using KPT Convolver to create the background image.
