Century Plants

A member of the Yucca, century plants will grow for several years and in the last year of their life thet send up a tall stalk with large flower/seed pods on it. After the flowers blossom and the pods open the plant dies. There are several varieties of this unique yucca plant. Here are some photos of the ones we saw in Coyote canyon.

Here is the yucca plant sending up the tall stalk. The stalk is about 5 feet tall here.

This stalk is over 10 feet tall and the flower buds are already set on the top. Judy can be seen in the background.
