Original poems by the Scorpion

All of the poems here are my original work. No, I don't think I'm some wonderful, insightful, goddess of poetry. These are just reflections of recent places in my life that are thought provoking. Some who read these lines will recognize themselves, to them I thank you for the inspiration.

All poems are the copyrighted property of The Scorpion. If you wish to use them on your webpage, or elsewhere, please give the proper credit(and when posslible a link back to this site). All other unauthorized and uncredited use is plagerism.

Am I a pebble forced to move with the river as it flows?
Perhaps a rock embedded in the sand, water running over me, but allowing me to peek through and see the sun.
Maybe I am a boulder, powerful and strong, that feels the cool lapping and comfort of the water, knowing that I am not easily moved, but over time is worn away.
Could it be that I am the driftwood bobbing along at will? Except for those times that the river casts me onto the banks to dry and break or simply to wait for the next ride.
Is it possible that I am the river itself? Strong, powerful, creator of my path and destiny. Dependant only on the rain to give me life. Without it what do I become?
Each is a part of me, no element more important than the other. Each depentdant on a higher source to live and be the best it can be.

Your fear is my fear.
Your pain is mine as well.
I share your joy and times of triumph.
Know always that I am here for you,
Through times of gladness & courage, sadness & tragedy,
Sorrow, worry, grief, I share with you as equally as
I share your accomplishments, happiness and celebrations.
I am here, close to your heart,
And you, my friend, you are my heart.

Can you hear the beating of my heart?
It calls out my love for you from the depth of my soul.
Do you see my dsire for you reflecting in my eyes?
This passion for you is like no other that I have known.
It affects my every thought as I go through each day.
If only I could tell you how much each touch, caress and look from you means.
I could write a symphony of my love for you that would make the strongest of hearts weep.
But, alas, my love you can only be my desire.
To tell you how I truely feel would be the greatest risk of my life.
This lust I have for you is one that is forbidden,
And your heart belongs to another with whom I cannot compete.
For now, I will tresure these moments that you give.

You are my friend.
You are there when I need to be embraced and told that I am loved.
You help me when I need it most and protect me when trouble looms.
You laugh with me when life is silly and you cry with me when I get the blues.
We share the special bond that only friends do;
An unconditional love that is fair and true.
Eternally and forever, you will be my friend and I will be yours too.

I look upon the horizon, but cannot see the view;
I listen to the sounds, but cannot hear the notes;
I touch the object, but cannot feel its life;
I am empty and the void is only growing.
The wine is in my mouth, yet I cannot taste its necture;
Fragrances waft through the air, I cannot smell their sweet scents;
The pit grows larger, taking on a life of its own;
The blackness is taking over, it must be stopped.
Life all around me is moving faster each day;
I can't keep up, I am lost.
To get back in all I need to do is find that which inspires me -- and then jump.

But inspiration is so elusive, it's very hard to track;
Music, words, pictures, people, scents, a breeze;
They all used to help me create, help me move forward;
But now they just taunt me,
Daring me to catch them, to learn the secrets of their magic.

It is quiet, I am alone.
No life, no contact.
I slip into darkness and despair.
All have abandoned me.

Alone I sit.
The mind atrophies,
Rigor mortis of the emotions sets in.

Deeper I fall into the blackness.
No hope, no love.
The need to survive is gone.
The end is near.

You are the missing piece of my puzzle,
the one that makes my life whole.
The keystone that makes this arch of love strong.
Do you know how very important you are to me?
Without you I will fade away, fall apart, never to be complete again.

I wish I knew if you really cared,
Or if this was some act to impress your new lady fair.
You know you have betrayed me,
You are with the one I love
You know her as only I can dream,
You know the mystery of her love.

You claim to be my friend, but look what you have done,
You have broken myheart without thinking twice.
Do you care? Do you? Ask yourself that!
On some level I know there is a place for me in your heart,
But from where I stand now, it is very small and dark.
Do you care? I used to think so.
But right now, at this moment, I don't think you do.

The hero of many a poem,
Villan of various tales.
Elusive as a butterfly floating on the wind,
As needed as the air I breathe,
Amazing as a new born life.
It seems at times when I need you most,
You will not come no matter how I plead.
Other times you are upon me like dew upon the leaves.
Many the laureate has compared you to the mighty hand of death,
But others see you as a tender lover,
Come to lay warm kisses on their brow.
How can you be so much, yet remain an almost empty part of life?
--4/97

Let me be there for you,
Let me help you through the hard times,
Be a shoulder for you to lean on,
An ear that is there to listen.
I will be your strength when you are weak,
Your guide when it is dark.
Whatever you need, I will give.
--4/97

Tonight I weep for you,
That special soul lost forever to the cold dark sea,
The heart that disappeared into the mysterious evening sky.
The night has taken you away from those who love you,
Their cries echo through the mountains as they are carried on a gentle breeze,
Lost in the empty void of space.
You have gone away from us,
Taken before your time,
And as this tear falls, I take comfort in knowing that for a moment you were mine.

Wistful dreams and misty windows,
Quiet stillness and moon lit nights,
Fantasies waiting to be realized,
Dance on sparkling beams of light.
A heart beats deep within,
As upon her face appears a tender grin,
She waits in a fragrant, candle lined room,
Listening for the footsteps,
That will announce her love's approach.
A glance at the picture on the desk,
Flecks of gold dancing in the eyes,
A touch of humour on soft smiling lips.
Her fingers reach to touch the reminder,
Of two lives shared;
Its energy courses through her fingers,
Remembering hopes and souls bared.
The candles flicker as they begin,
To draw their last breaths and go out,
In the final moments,
Before darkness and dreams, again envelope the room,
She whispers words of love,
And upon the picture, places a tender kiss.
