Pill-shape inspiration. (First Fashion Plate) -Design a uniform for a 21st Century security guard.
-Avoid aggressive look.

Final: (Mid-March)
(Dimensions unknown), Marker on ivory card. Black card and tracing paper for layout and backing.

I had chosen to do a uniform for a female casino security guard. The intended uniform is made of high-tech bullet/laser/fire/chemical/radiation-proof. Strong, bright colours and slim cut used to reduce aggressive look.

Various flaws: the figure looks weird. Layout not well planned, and rendering not of standard.

Sarong: Hibiscus Inspired -Sarong/Wrap-around for a late 20's, early 30's Asian woman.
-Formal/informal occasion costume, for an opening function.
-Costume must be sensational.

Final: (3rd July)
710 × 380 mm, Acrylics (wash form) on watercolour paper. Black card and tracing for backing.
(one of the sketches found
here.)

The plate was done for a class test. A 3 hour duration was given for us to complete the plate from scratch, impromptu, with only our sketches for reference.
Questions are given out a week before the test for preparatory work.

Various flaws: layout and rendering rather slipshod. Design concept unclear.

Wrap-around: Human Intestine Inspired -Fashion plate for A-level project. (Plate 1)
-Intestine-inspired, stringy top to be tied/wrapped around body.
-Separate skirt with high slits are both sides. Translucent material, with blood/veins-inspired prints.

Final: (Mid-May)
594 × 840 mm, Acrylic on American Paper. Figure pose inspired by model in a fashion book.

8 plates are to be produced for the A-level project. The deadline is the end of July. So far, I've done 4 plates, but the other three are unsatisfactory.
I've decided to continue with the human body theme for the rest of the 7 plates.

Various flaws: outlines can be less harsh. A broken, dark brownish outline, using dry-brush technique would be more suitable.

Japanese-Influence: Stylized Kimono -Formal costume for a cultural event, to be designed for an Asian woman, in her 30's.
-Costume to be designed with infuences pertaining to a named country or culture.

Final: (10th Oct)
420 × 594 mm, Acrylic on American Paper. Figure hand-drawn. Gold poster paint and masking fluid utlized.

This question was posed to us for our 1998 final year exams, to determine more or less if we'd pass our Art. As usual, a 3 hour duration was given to complete the plate from scratch, with only our sketches as reference.
I had decided to name Japan as the country of influence, and decided to stylize the traditional kimono. The Ubi (waist strap) is a long gold strip of cloth to go round.

Various flaws: sleeve seemingly overdone; could have been better if the gold strip wasn't repeated there.
