a selfish boy

I heard his scream,
  heard his anger rage.
I saw him raise
  his fist to beat her,
    to prove something to himself...
I saw the blood
  pouring from the wounds
    inflicted by his fist...
and I can do nothing
but sit and watch...
  and pray...

I feel her pain.
  the heartache his wounds
    scrape into her soul.
I feel her pain.
  the wounds of abuse,
    a selfish angry man...
I feel her pain.
  as it overtakes her...
and I can do nothing
but sit and watch...
  and pray...

what kind of a man
  is he?
or is he even a man?
  his actions show the anger
    of a selfish boy...
and he doesn't even see
  what is blatantly there...
how blind is he?
what kind of a man
  is he?
