in depth look at poem: This is an abortion poem I wrote
way back in 1995. I just recently found it, and realized that
it was an abortion poem...
Sam & Elizabeth
Sam and Elizabeth met a party.
they exchanged looks throughout the night.
so Sam invited her over to his place,
where they had a good time, everything's alright.
but then he reached over and kissed her.
he wanted to make love, she didn't want to...
until he assured her how safe the condom was,
so she finally agreed that's what she wanted to do.
a couple weeks later she was feeling different
so she went to the doctor, a specialist for women
and found that she wasn't sick... she was pregnant!
the condom wasn't as safe as he had said then...
so Elizabeth decided to go to the abortion clinic
where they would take it away forever...
they did the "surgery" on her
and destroyed the bothering life within her.
a week later she is laying on her bed all alone
crying tears and knowing the baby death was forever.
the joy that she knew she'd missed... made her sad
and she knew she's made an error.
