Just not in the 'holiday' mood. |
My parents called me Wednesday night, and reminded me to call my brother. He was coming home for Thanksgiving, and I needed to tell him about out engagement. I don't know why I kept putting it off, telling him, part of it was to wait and tell her parents, and part of it was just the general nothingness that I get sucked into when I get home. I sit and chat, or watch tv, or play the video game, and suddenly, it's 10:30, and time to start winding down. So I called him, and told him about it. He was excited...which was good. I talked to his wife for awhile, but not too much. My brother and I have almost nothing in common. I have less in common with his wife. Thanksgiving day was quiet, I played Final Fantasy VII, and Azura made a small but delicious dinner. Then we both vegged out for the rest of the day. Squirrel had called earlier in the week {She and Moose have worked out some of their problems, and are moving back in together--only they are staying in Michigan.}, and she was supposed to give us a call, and perhaps come visit over Thanksgiving. We didn't hear anything, which was fine. I'm going to miss them, but I really don't want them dropping in and out of my life all the time. It's in or out, please..I can't take it any other way. I had to work on Friday. That's one of the joys of a new job--no vacation. Most of our office was working,so it didn't seem too strange. I got some actual work done, but not the main thing I was there to do. That has to wait until today. The let us leave around 2, so I headed on home. I tried to get some productive work done at my computer, but just couldn't work. I don't know what the problem is...maybe I gave up too easily. I installed redneck rampage, and finally got it working. Sometimes when I get in this kind of mood, I want to play one of the 3D shooters. On god mode. On Saturday, I watched some cartoons, and cleaned out my car, while Azura worked on learning HTML. She was a bit concerned about it, since it was so similar to what she was doing at work--but not completely the same. She dropped her project for later, when she has memorized the work coded better. I don't think that way...I guess I'd be memorizing the differences, and then I'd learn both faster...but that's me. One of our main differences seems to be the way we learn, and the way we remember. Caffeine called me today, surprising me. I didn't really expect for them to remember, and was very pleased when they did. He and Lysistrata were going to come over on their way back to Raleigh. So, Azura and I did a quick 45-minute cleaning (our house was finally clean...Yaaay!). Azura hadn't met them yet, and it went fairly well. I think we're going to go visit Lys sometime soon. I had missed her, hadn't seen her since Memorial day, but there wasn't any way for me to get back up there. I called Hawk and Informer to see if we were still gaming, but wound up making plans to see Starship Troopers and Flubber with them tomorrow. Since we weren't going to flubber Saturday night like we planned, Azura and I decided to go to Celebration Station. We won like 700 ticket things--and got some kitschy things (a frog beanie for Azura's half-sister). We couldn't spend it all, so we gave 120 tickets to someone who was just standing there. I hope her mom doesn't get mad at us. Sunday was pretty much a disaster. I was in a really off mood, and I still don't know why. We drove to meet Hawk, only to find out that Informer was ditching us for the movie, and that he'd already left. So we drove to the movie, and he wasn't there. My guess was he already went in. We were starving, so we went to eat, then went on a great quest to get a new video game, or something that would cheer me up, or make me feel less apathetic. I was too apathetic for a movie, so we went home. I did get MechWarrior2, I'm not sure i'm thrilled with it yet, but I'll let you know. Azura put up a tree, lights, garlands, cat's attacking it and everything. We had to lock the pets in our room with us all night, so they wouldn't attack the tree. Of course, they will just attack it today, while we're gone. At least I got to sleep this way. So, a busy, but relaxing weekend. I still haven't adjusted to the idea it's december. That it's three weeks to Christmas--less until I go home with gifts and so forth. I'm not sure what's bugging me, but it's probably the same thing that's been bugging me all week...
