WET #15 Challenge:
Can I make it look elegant?!

February 26, 1999

I decided to use the image as a whole this time, and made some "variations on a theme."
These WET 15 images all involved the use the mosaic function and blended layers.
Most used the grayscale function, unsharp mask, and embossing.
Some also involved motion blur, color adjustment and colorizing.
Although it diminishes the total effect somewhat, I reduced the images to half size
in the interest of faster loading. As always, everything was done in PaintShop Pro 5.
Thanks for looking! Diane

Midnight Carnival "Midnight Carnival" This is an embossed image which has had the contrast upped to 100 and the brightness reduced -10. The light area was then filled with a linear mosaic pattern made from the original color image. The embossed version it was done from is here.

Detail from Enameled Box "Detail from an Enameled Box" This is a variation of the above, but the mosaic fill was colorized to gold before filling the lines.

Creepy Visits Atlantis "Creepy visits Atlantis" This image used the golden colorized line drawing from the earlier images, but the black layer was filled with a pattern made by creating a gradient from aqua to dark blue from the original's mosaic, then randomly opposite filling at 5 tolerance, then strongly motion blurring at four narrowly different angles. I placed the lightest "ripple" area over the clown to give the feeling of spotlighting him under the water. Here is a black line version of this underwater image.

Tahiti, too? "Tahiti, too?" Arrrgh! He's popped up in my dreamy South Pacific vacation. This one used layers and blended a highly saturated and widened version of the original mosaic. The size reduction affected the quality of this one more than the others. :(

Cooling His Heels "Cooling His Heels" This WET is cool! Now on to the arctic ice floes for Creepy. :) This involved making a squared mosaic, colorizing it with blue, and blending this layer with the original at about 50% hue.

This image is a quarter-size sample of the original image meegja posted.
