WET 33: The War God

This week's wet collection looked like it had been lifted from a pirate story: old sword, gun, chest, shovel and a ship. A scene was the first thing that came to mind, but there are others who do that so well...so I thought again. :)

Aha, Museum time! What could be more appropriate than to use the instruments of violence to create a symbol of their own purpose? The "War God" in this image was made using the sword and parts of the gun from the WET 33 original...the only thing "new" was one filled circle made with the PSP shape tool. I decided it was really a shield, so it fit in just fine with my theme. (grin)

I cut out, duplicated, mirrored and combined bits and pieces on different layers using some hot wax, color adjustments, blending, and more.

The background was made using spraypaint, motion blur, and noise.

I tried a lot of color variations using red (Mars' influence, of course) and gold, and finally stopped with this one.

I also reduced the size a bit for the image above, since only the GIF format would keep the detail I wanted (though I tried several levels of JPG).

Click on the image to see the original size.I think that the background texture does show up better in it.

Everything on this page was done in Paint Shop Pro 5, using only the original filters and functions supplied with the program.

This is a smaller version of the original image Don posted for us to use. Thank you!
