WET 54: Mardi Gras!
Martin gave us a collection that included the M16 nebula, a cow, Sinter Klaas, A sun, a metallic coil ornament, a puppet face, a baby's bunting, and a dart. A rather intimidating collection, but once I combined the nebula and sun images, I knew what I was making! When I saw the compelling eye, I knew I had to mirror it and create this mask.
The main part of the mask was done by layering the sun and the resized nebula, then blending at 100% difference. I copied and mirrored this image, then used the ellipse selection tool to carve out the mask shape.
The feathers were created from the dart (selections, wind deformation, lots and lots of rotating and pasting!). The sparkly buttons are the puppet face (layered, mirrored, blended, noise added, softened, resized, sharpened, hotwaxed, and drop shadowed...whew!). The teardrop is the baby's bunting (perspective distortion, colorized, wind deformation, reproportioned).
The background was created by using a small part of Sinter Klaas's hat as a pattern fill. The outer part of the frame is patterned with the top section of the ornament (darkened using the H/S/L adjustment). The inner part of the frame was patterned with the cow's nose, and the mask's string was made from black leather from the cow's hide. LOL
Lots of layering in this one again! What did I ever do without it?!
