Here is a very small sample of my writing style. I tend to write down short bits like this, which I can often (but not always) develop into something bigger. More to come in the future.

The End of a Relationship

I sit here, knowing that one of the most important relationships in my life is about to end. This is a relationship that has been going on for 19 years now, and it is one that I shall greatly miss, but I know it must come to an end.

Things have gotten stale, become too comfortable, without hope of going forward. I need a change, and not just by leaving, but a change in me. I am in a rut, and she can’t help me out of it. A "change of scenery" is necessary, to either push me on to do new things and become a new person, or to make me realise what I am leaving behind and draw me back. I feel that I know all there is to know about her.

And yet, the more I look at it, the less I realise I do know about her. Little secrets are starting to come out - things I can’t deal with right now, but that I will inevitably come back to investigate. Although I am leaving, I know that I’ll be back. There is a bond between us which I can never let go. It is not just beauty which will keep her close to my heart, but a deep down feeling - a "soul" if you like - a mixture of qualities and a style of life which is comfortable, and it is a comfort to which I will inevitably return.

She is Dunedin - the city I have lived in since I was five. It might take a while, and I may change in the interim, but I will return.

Impulses

... I'm just about to rewrite it ... it should be here in a day or two ...
