Hello.
My name- or rather, the name I shall choose to go by here- is Deneys. I am here because I wish to show you something. I wish to show you my stories, my poems, my trials and tribulations, and whatever else I may decide to place in plain view.
Why you're still here, I cannot say. I will say, however, that I appreciate it and offer my condolances as well as my gratitude.
In the short time you was- um, I mean spend here, I wish you the best of luck wading through all the old finished things (I must say they are quite dated, but worth reading, nonetheless) and waiting on the new developing ones.
And now, to the meat...
New
In case those of you who frequent (and I use that term liberally) this page haven't noticed, I have completely reorganized everything. I have added things. I have not (to the best of my knowledge) taken anything away. I have tried to give you a more complete, more navigable page. I ask that, in return for the pouring out of my heart and soul in these pages, only that you attract others to witness the torrents for themselves. In plain English, tell your friends! Publicity is much appreciated (though, not required, unfortunately enough for me).
Submitted for your pondering pleasure: My, have I been writing a lot lately!. Two more poems have been added (as of 1/13), one to Love & Lust called "Occupation" and one to Sadness & Desperation called "Thank You, Miss Blackman". They greatly reflect my recent affiliation with the Poemfone poets and Verses That Hurt, if they sound a little different than my usual fare. Enjoy.
Calling All Writers! Calling All Writers!: I've been thinking a lot recently (big suprise, I know) and I decided I've been entirely too self-absorbed in putting only +my+ writing up on this page. I don't know if it's more arrogant to assume any other writers would want their work on this page, but even if it is, I've started taking other people's work for display. Please, I beg you, if you can find it in your heart to allow your genius to be housed on such a humble page as this, send them to me.
Used
- Cause
Okay, maybe "Cause" isn't quite the right word, but it still gets the point across. We, as human beings, are reactionary beings. We are subject to a million bombardments of literature, music, television, cinema, fashion, propoganda... And whether we like it or not, want to acknowledge it or not, we are all effected by these endless attacks on our senses, our psyche. In these subsequent pages I've tried to collect what has had the most profound effect on me, as well as reccomendations of what may have an agreeable effect on you.
- Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic: A list and brief commentary on the authors, philosophers, poets, scientists, intellectuals and general thinkers whose work have impacted my personal opinions.
- We are the music makers: Music, past and present, that parallels and/or evokes my ever-changing emotions, as all good music should.
- Sight & Sound: The moving picture, and the artistry some can bring to it, is one of the most powerful mediums of art that exists in the modern world. Aldous Huxley called it "emotional masturbation." See what you think.
- Effect
All of these stimuli had to have produced something, right? I mean, you can't put fruit into a blender and get air. Well, the result of that aforementioned fruit and other experiences can be found here.
- Rhyme & Unreason: Since I can remember, I've always loved to write. There's no simpler explanation than that. I have always been-- or at least felt like-- a bit of an outsider, and my unique imagination found an outlet in my poetry and prose. The thoughts, the feelings, the fears, the personality I am most afraid to share with anyone is expressed most honestly in my work. In placing this here, I am fervently hoping you will read it with that in mind.
- The Worlds Beyond: I know as well as you do (or at least I would hope as much) that my page is not the only one on the WWWeb. Here's an ever-expanding list of other sites I feel are worth your time.
- By Thy Words: My personal journal. Need I say more?
