Mission In Brief

As a result of the near-catastrophe of the Millenium Dome conference which took place on Earth, it was decided that a new planetary system should be utilised to allow the Volkunes to intermix with its Allies in neutral territory. Pax VII in the Unlerion system was selected as the site for this new "Babylon Project" Station. As it is on a planet, its defense systems could be utilised more to its advantage. The Minbari designed the station incorporating their technology with human technology. The station was built by Human engineers working alongside the Minbari designers, and it was decreed that the Volkunes would command the station. The Centauri contributed the jumpgate in the system, and maintain it exclusively.

Hi’katuishi Creala - "First officer’s log.
This log entry officially marks the day that I take over from my friend, V’thtashi Harun de’, as Executive Officer aboard the LSC Vol. Today is the day that we give V’th a proper send off as she leaves us for her new posting as CO on Pax VII. I envy her in a way as that posting will allow her to meet many new and interesting people. However, my place is at Rron’s side.

I am concerned with the number of crew-members leaving this ship for the new planet. Most notably, Sairenn, our Chief Engineer. As I look at the list of names, I can honestly say that I regret losing these people as they were part of the life aboard this ship.

As I record this log, the Vol is entering orbit around Pax VII where we will be staying for a little while as guests in order to facilitate the official opening of the facility.

End log"

**1200 hrs SST (Standard Ship’s Time)***

All off duty officers had reported to the Recreation Room on time for V’thtashi’s send off ceremony. Although Hi’katuishi had assumed his position as XO, this ceremony made it official to the crew. In front of the crew, there was a podium with the Volkune crest embossed in the centre. Behind the podium stood Rron with V’th on his Right and Kat on his left.

Rron began the speeches. "Crew members. Welcome to the departing ceremony of V’thtashi Harun de’. V’thtashi has served this ship and her crew with dignity and efficiency. This ceremony, however, marks a wonderful transition for Miss Harun de’ as she leaves us to join the new facility on Pax VII as Commanding Officer. Captain V’thtashi Harun de’!"

V’thtashi moved to the centre of the Podium as Rron moved to her right. "Fellow officers. I have only two duties left aboard this vessel. This is the first." V’thtashi lifted an old fashioned scroll and opened it. She read the contents aloud. "Status report for LSC Vol. Currently in orbit around planet Pax VII with a crew compliment of two-hundred and sixty-four. The ship is fully operational and battle-ready. Current alert status is ‘green’." V’thtashi turned to her left to face Kat who, as per protocol, held out his hand to receive the scroll. V’thtashi placed the scroll in his hand but kept hold of her end.

"Captain V’thtashi Harun de’, I hereby relieve you."

"I stand relieved." V’thtashi replied as she released the scroll. She turned back to the crowd. "Now that duty is done, I have one which remains. And that is to say that it has been a pleasure to serve with you. You are a good crew. I will miss those of you whom I leave behind."

Kat took the centre of the podium. "It is my first duty as Executive Officer to offer a reception in honour of our departing friend. You will notice there is food around the room on the tables, please eat freely. LET’S PARTY!" On those words, the lights went out and Earth-style disco lights flashed while Volkune contemporary music blasted through the speakers.

As V’th was watching all this with amazement, four burly men - who V’th recognised as four of Kat’s marines - entered from behind the stage set opposite the podium... and started to dance for her!

***1500 hours***

The security guard would not have noticed the nondescript man who tried to ruin the guard's career by slipping through the checkpoint if it had not been for the standard Psi Corp gloves and insignia.  "I...

"...denticard.  Here," finished the dark man, almost flicking the card at the disgruntled guard.  "I shall find it necessary to report the near-breach in security to your superior.  If I were not on your side, whatever that is, for the moment at least, who could imagine what contraband or terrorists I could have smuggled past this gate."

"Yes," the guard muttered sarcastically as he handed the identicard back to the agent, "you've done us all a great service, Mr. Torquemada.  We always need more telepaths here."

The telepath gave an indifferent look to the guard, and immediately turned to the gaming hall.  "Feel free to ask for any information you need!" the guard called after Torquemada.  "Damn Psi Corp... it'll be the end of us yet," the visibly upset man complained to his partner.

Kevin Antonio Torquemada looked entirely out of place at the craps table.  Yet he scammed, stole, and conned his way to a nice 300% profit, the dealer not suspecting a thing, his fixed dice securely cooling off in his sleeve.  It was 17 hundred hours already, but he was still 2 hours early for his official appointment.  The emerald in his gray eyes twinkled as he rolled the dice for the last time, and picked up his winnings to the chagrin of the house.  He quickly scanned the area for anyone that might be useful, and finding no such person, straightened his uniform and walked briskly towards the door, leaving behind no one and no regrets.

***1600 hrs***

The young Minbari Wind Sword walked off the shuttle and on to B5P every inch of his being projecting the arrogance of his Warrior Caste upbringing.

"Identicard" the security guard demanded.

"Here, human."

"Tirest of the Family Vorune, Warrior Caste.  Well we welcome you to B5P." the security guard said handing Tirest back his papers.

Tirest grunted and moved on past the human, wondering why the Grey Council had surrendered to these pitiful creatures.  He was tired and wanted nothing more than to find his quarters on station to meditate and recover from the long trip from far border of the Minbari Federation, where he had just left his posting as a security officer on the Minbari crusier Dukat. His father's connections to the Council of Elders had won him this chance to see B5P and Pax XII.  Tirest marvelled at the alien architecture of Geodome-1.  It was interesting but drab compared to the beauty of Minbar's crystal cities.  Perhaps when he was rested he would try out the recreational facilities to see if there was room to practice Kalan'tha and with his Fighting Pike.

Mission De-Brief

**** Security Report - Captain Hi’katuishi Creala ****

Upon arrival on Pax XII we immediately discovered that the Earth Force security team had been highly inefficient at detecting narcotics smugglers and gun runners. As a result, several such organisations and individuals had infiltrated the station. Prompt action was taken to relieve the said security force and replace it with my own Marine contingent from the LSC Vol. As a result, we were able to stem the flow of these agents into the facility. Unfortunately, those already inside had begun their work. This resulted in the injury of the Narn exchange officer, G’arron Akri. However, the culprits were apprehended and interrogated.

In the mean time, the senior officers of both the Pax XII facility and LSC Vol returned to the LSC Vol to monitor the situation without interference. The purpose of this was to flush out the suspected cartels and gather sufficient evidence to eradicate them. During our time aboard the LSC Vol, it came to our attention that a second group, known as D.R.A.G.G were operating to cause disorder. Their plan failed thus far thanks to the swift action of Tirest of Vorune, the acting Chief of Security at the time. Unfortunately, in a short battle with the said organisation, several security members were KIA and as many again wounded. These included two Volkune Marines from Delta3 company.

Shortly after this, the senior staff returned to the surface and promptly arrested and incarcerated the perpetrators remaining hidden on the station, thus restoring order without further loss of life.

Pertaining to the incident of fire emanating from the surface of the planet. This matter was reported briefly as a request for assistance. However, it was soon discovered that the Narn officers, G’arron and G’art Akri were responsible. Their bio-signitures were traced to a fortification near the dome. Soldiers in hard-suits located them and directed a shuttle landing before they themselves managed to escape from said location by way of a shuttle or cruiser which were both present within the fortification. Recommendation have been made by myself for the security of the facility.

  1. That a transport of seasoned and reliable VSF (or otherwise) security be dispatched to this station, along with a small core of Engineers, since the current force is slightly over-laboured.
  2. That the station in orbit of Pax XII be fortified and equip to house a security team which would be responsible for traffic in the Pax system. This station would be able to monitor, control and prevent traffic to and from the facility and also perform security checks on any cargo or passengers before it reaches the planet surface.

As the LSC Vol leaves within the hour, all appointments have been made. Most notably, Sairenn, the Chief Operational officer (Engineering) has been given the additional duty of Executive Officer, Tirest of Vorune has, as per my personal recommendation, been appointed Chief of Security, Kevin Torquemada is V’thtashi’s personal attaché. Also, Sergeant Hislop I have appointed the official Volkune security advisor. He will act as second of Security to Vorune and as liaison between Sairenn and the Minbari. Two other Marines have been stationed as Captain Harun de’s personal guard.
