... Arizona continued!!

Meteor Crater, west of Flagstaff We meant to go to Canyon de Chelly, but it was too far to go with our new plans to return to Sedona on Friday. So, we left Flagstaff on Thursday and headed east towards Winslow. On our way there, we stopped at Meteor Crater which is where some scenes from the movie Starman were filmed - remember the part where Jeff Bridges is waiting for his ship to come pick him up? That's in Meteor Crater!!

From Winslow, we headed North on highway 87 towards Second Mesa. This took us through Navajo and Hopi Reservation lands. Hey, we thought the North Bay-Sturgeon Falls stretch was long... Wow, what a long and straight piece of highway this was!! Very scenic, although not alot of sights to stop for. We went up through Second Mesa on the Hopi Reservation, and turned West on highway 264. We stopped for lunch here, at the Hopi Cultural Center.

Hopi Reservation area in Arizona After lunch, we drove back on highway 264 to take some pictures and to do a bit of shopping in the little jewelry shops. My favorite was Tsakurshovi. It is apparently where the Hopi go to shop for their traditional items. I bought some bear root here, and the shop-keeper wrote me some instructions on its use. The Hopi call it bear root because they learned how to use it by watching the bears.

We then headed for Tuba City where we would stay the night in yet another expensive hotel. Here, we found dinosaur tracks (I thought they weren't real, but now that I've looked at that website perhaps I could be persuaded to change my mind... :) and beautiful views of the Painted Desert.

A view on the Hopi Reservation, Arizona We then took a dirt road off of highway 89, just north of Tuba City. This dirt road goes towards the Grand Canyon, but never gets there. I took some pretty cool photos there, and we could see the edge of the canyon in the distance. The sun was setting too, so this lead to some pretty artsy photos.

On Friday, we made our way back to Sedona so that I could meet up with Wenty at Earth Mother Father and discuss the Amazon's Rainforest herbs. We chatted for about an hour and a half, and she taught me a muscle test and spoke to me about letting energies flow. In the meantime, Dave went to hike Bell Rock where he saw two other hikers we had seen four days previously at Boynton Canyon!!

Painted Desert We stayed in Sedona Friday night and hung around on Saturday too. We had dinner, Friday night, at what I think is my favorite restaurant in Sedona (we ate there about three or four times!) called Oaxaca Restaurante & Cantina. It's on the east end of the 'Y' across from the Sinagua shopping center, and they have a great black bean soup! Another favorite was the Canyon Breeze which is across the street and offers some good mexican food in a comfortable cafeteria-type setting.

Dave made an appointment at Earth Mother Father with Barry for a Cranio-Sacral treatment on Saturday which lasted over an hour and a half! I just hung out in the gift shop with Shirley and we chatted a bit about the Earth changes (this is only ONE website on the Earth changes, but there are many more that cater to all types of views; please search for these if you're interested to know more), nutrition, family, travel and so on...

This is the closest we got to the Grand Canyon... Dave and I then drove on to Phoenix for the evening. Our conversation on the way directly addressed some unspoken issues we had during the week, and made me feel alot better! I hope it did the same for Dave... :) We checked into our hotel room and went downtown to find Dave some Mezcal to take home with him. We found Mezcal at a drive-thru liquor and grocery store on Van Buren... oh wow, am I glad I stayed in the car and locked the doors!! Then we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and had some tequila in celebration of Cinco de Mayo.

On Sunday, we headed for the airport where I had to be at 7:30 in the morning to catch a 9:00am flight back to Toronto via Denver. We gave each other a great hug and parted ways. Dave's flight left almost an hour after mine, so he had time to bring the rental car back which he did.

What a great adventure! Thanks Dave for everything, and Audrey - you and I must return to Sedona some day!!
