In The Mind's Eye > 4

Katriona sat still, clearing her thoughts, though it was hard. What if she messed up? What if she wiped her mind clear? What if-??

"Keep your mind clear." Lucinda warned. "You have to dream, again... Clear your mind."

She took in a deep breath, the scent of sandlewood calming her. She had to do this...

Please don't mess up, Kat...

Zac turned and whacked Taylor in the face with his hat.

"Zac!" Taylor yelled and knocked his brother upside the head.

A stewardess came up and offered some peanuts.

Taylor shook his head. "No thanks."

"Hey! I'll have some." Zac yelled, sticking his hand out.

Katriona.

Katriona could hear her voice.

Go back. This is too late.

How? How could she do it?

As if to answer, Lucinda's calming voice returned.

Think back... you are a part of them, now.

How? She can't do it!

You can. Just think back...

Katriona concentrated, but got nowhere.

Don't try. Just think back as if you would your own memory.

Katriona relaxed and suddenly -

Isaac hoisted his carry on onto his shoulder. The last call was being made.

"About time, too." Zac grumbled. "It was supposed to be here at 7:30, but nooo! It takes its sweet time and gets here 7:50. Geez."

Taylor stood from his seat, and reached down to grab his bag.

That's good, Katriona.

But what about their flight? The gate? The day? she thought.

Try to find out. Go back again.

Katriona relaxed and let her mind wander and then-

"Zac! Get off that computer now! We have to go." Taylor threw a sock at his brother. "Our plane leaves in 3 hours. You still need to pack."

"Alright..." Zac mumbled. "What's the date?"

Taylor threw his hands up, exasperated. "The 12th. Of May. 1998. Duh."

Zac nodded as if Tay had told him the right answer to a question. "Okay." he flicked the computer off.

Tay stared at him hard. "Why did you want to know the date?"

Zac stood and shrugged. "No real reason. Just checking out the last updates to this site.. They haven't updated since October last year."

Katriona, find out their gate and flight.

Taylor left the room, muttering about how Zac was a computer hog.

Katriona suddenly felt compelled to try something. Suddenly, she was placed with him. It was odd. As if she were part of him, but not.

Don't go to the bathroom, she pleaded with him.

Taylor paused outside the bathroom door.

Go look at the tickets, Katriona subconciously directed.

He shook his head and reached down and turned to bathroom doorknob. It didn't turn.

"Who's in here?" he called.

"Me." answered a helpful voice.

Taylor shrugged. "Just hurry up." he shoved his hands into his pockets and headed back down the hallway to his room.

Go look at the airplane tickets! Katriona commanded.

He stopped and turned, heading for his parent's room. A woman was cradling a baby.

"Mom?"

She looked at him expectantly.

"Can I look at the plane tickets?"

She gave a funny face, but motioned to a stack of small papers on the bedside table.

He went over and inspected the tickets, not really knowing why. Suddenly, goosebumps dotted his skin, and he dropped the tickets.

His mom stared expectantly.

"Oh, it's nothing." he explained and left the room...

---

Katriona opened her eyes, Lucinda's face waiting expectantly.

"Don't speak until you are ready. You are probably very tired."

She nodded, and great feeling of numbness taking over. But she needed to tell Lucinda what she knew.

Lucinda cocked her head.

"They are on flight #304, gate 7, at Tulsa International. Their flight leaves 7:30 PM tonight."
