In The Mind's Eye > 6

Zac stood, wishing Ike would come and get him. C'mon Ike.

The outer door opened and someone came in.

Zac nearly cried out, but the girl tightened her grip on his neck.

"Shh." she hissed.

He gulped and nodded.

---

Isaac checked his watch. What was taking Zac so long?

"Tay? You seen Zac?"

Taylor shook his head.

"Last was when he went to the bathroom." Ike grew concerned.

"Maybe he's got a case of the serious dumps." Taylor suggested.

Isaac nodded. "I better go get him."

Taylor shrugged. "I'll do it." He stood and headed for the bathroom.

---

The person who had come in did his business, and left again.

Katriona relaxed and Zac sighed loudly.

Katriona stood straight as the door creaked open again.

"Zac?"

The boy in Katriona's arms stiffened.

"Tell him to get Isaac." she whispered softly.

He shook his head and struggled. She tightened her grip. "Tell him."

He nodded, his face falling. "Tay?" he asked shakily.

---

Taylor grew alarmed. "What is it?"

"I've, uh... had an accident."

Tay's brows furrowed.

"Can you go and bring Ike back? I... need both your help here."

"Why?"

"Please? Just go get him and come back."

Taylor shrugged. "Okay. Hang on."

---

"Very good." she whispered into his ear.

Tears fell down his cheek and landed onto her arm.

---

Katriona couldn't stand hurting him. She wanted to let him go and just forget all this, but she couldn't.

---

"What?" Isaac stared at Taylor.

"That's what he said." Tay shrugged.

Ike glanced at his watch again.

"He sounded worried, Ike."

Isaac sighed. "Okay, but if he's playing a joke, it's not funny."

---

The door creaked open.

"Okay, Zac. What's wrong with you? Huh?"

---

Katriona motioned for Zac to open the toilet door.

Two stunned boys stared as she led their younger brother out.

"Now listen to me carefully. Don't try anything funny, or I'll hurt him bad." she said.

The boys stood, tense.

Katriona pulled a sheet of paper with 'OUT OF ORDER' written on in. She handed it to Taylor. "Stick that on the door."

He pulled open the door and smacked the sheet against the door. The door closed with a whoosh and he came back to stand in front of her, glaring angrily.

"Good." She pulled 3 hats from her jacket.

She threw them at Isaac. "Put these on. And tuck your hair in."

Isaac and Tay did as directed.

"Ike, you put that hat on Zachary." she jerked her head.

He came over and clamped the hat onto his brother's head.

"Don't try anything, Hanson." she warned, pulling Zac's arm.

Zac winced. "Don't Ike. She means it."

Ike backed away, glaring at her, and looking helplessly at the crying Zac.

Katriona pulled her jacket off with one hand and threw it at Taylor. "Put that on."

He pulled it on obediantly.

She nodded. "Good."

She pulled 2 pairs of sunnies from her shirt pocket. She placed some on Zac's face, and threw the other at Ike.

"Isaac." she said, and he just glared at her. "Go and make sure that no one's around. And don't lie."

Zac winced again as she tugged his arm at an odd angle.

Isaac went to the door and stuck his head out. No one around. "All clear."

Katriona nodded. "Out."

They trouped out. Katriona shifted her grip on Zac. She pulled his arm around back and held it back with her own. The stood side by side very much like a couple would.

"Okay." she said, pointing down the corridor. Away from the terminals.

The group followed directions quietly. No one took notice of them, it seems too easy.

Outside, she pointed them to a blue van waiting for them. In the front was Lucinda, dressed as a man.

"Get in."

Isaac and Taylor sat up the front, while Katriona and Zac sat behind them.

---

Zac shifted his arm, and her fingers gripped tighter. Painfully.

"Get going." the girl said, and the van pulled away from the airport. Away from his family...
