DEPECHE MODE INTERNET CHAT

Depeche Mode - Official Press Release

LIVECONCERTS.COM (http://liveconcerts.com) PRESENTS FIRST EVER LIVE CHAT IN REALVIDEO! IT'S AN "ULTRA" EXCLUSIVE WITH DEPECHE MODE!

LOS ANGELES, May 7, 1997

LiveConcerts.com is always on the cutting edge, especially when it comes to Music for the Masses. That's why LiveConcerts.com in association with Ken Krasner, EmeraldNet, House Of Blues and Reprise Records is clearing the runway and treating listeners to its first ever live chat in RealVideo, featuring Depeche Mode answering live questions as they launch their official web site on the world wide web (http://www.depechemode.com) live from the House of Blues, Los Angeles.

On Tuesday, May 13, at 7:00 p.m. (PT), those moody models of dark electro Europop are giving their first American interview promoting their brand new release for Reprise Records, "Ultra." And LiveConcerts.com subscribers won't just be able to hear the interview, they'll be able to see it, too, in this first-time ever RealVideo chat. Visitors should access the liveconcerts.com web site to download all of the necessary plug-ins, and to submit their questions to the band. Additionally, fans should register at the official Depeche Mode web site (http://www.depechemode.com) for an opportunity to win autographed CD's and other promotional items.

Depeche Mode started in 1980, when Vince Clarke (Erasure), Andrew Fletcher, Martin Gore and David Gahan came together. The name, meaning "fashion dispatch," was taken from a French magazine. They released their first single, "Dreaming of Me," in February 1981, but it was their third single, "Just Can't Get Enough," that became a Top 10 hit. Since then (minus Clarke), they've had hit after international hit with songs like "Everything Counts," "People are People," "Master and Servant", "Personal Jesus", "Enjoy The Silence", "I Feel You" and "Barrel Of A Gun". "Ultra" is the 12th album for the band, and the current hit "It's No Good" is the second single to be released from it.

LiveConcerts.com was one of the first Internet websites to offer album previews ("Listening Parties"), and has previously featured such releases as "Flesh and Bone" by Richard Marx, Erasure's "Cowboy," Son Volt's "Straightaways," Chuck D's "The Autobiography of MistaChuck" and Elvis Costello's 5 CD box set, "Costello and Nieve Live." LiveConcerts.com also features concerts twice a week, with recent cybercasts including such bands as Cheap Trick, Soul Coughing, Sky Cries Mary, the Lemonheads, Poe, Blur (in RealVideo), Willie Nelson, No Doubt, Cracker, the Black Crowes and an exclusive video cybercast of a live Aerosmith Press Conference.

In addition to the chat, listeners can help Depeche Mode celebrate the launch of their official website, which kicks off during the live event. And, they can stick around afterwards for Erasure, live and in concert. So, fashionable Party-goers should mark May 13 on their calendars and stop by LiveConcerts.com, where Everything Counts in Large Amounts. Especially good music.

LiveConcerts.com is a partnership between House of Blues New Media and Progressive Networks. Executive producers for the Depeche Mode live event are Ken Krasner and EmeraldNet in association with Reprise Records. All audio and video Cybercasts are presented with RealPlayer 3.0. To access Cybercasts, download the free Real Audio 3.0 software, and sign-up for a free VIP Members Pass to a LiveConcerts.com Cybercast. Just point your browser to http://www.liveconcerts.com. Welcome to the Official DEPECHEMODE web site

What you are viewing is the first step in an evolutionary process.

In its present form, the Official DM web site focuses primarily on Ultra, Depeche Mode's latest release. The complete Depeche Mode story will be brought to life on this site over the coming months.

As the site evolves, you will see comprehensive information on all aspects of Depeche Mode, including an in-depth look at the back catalog, with rare singles and hard-to-find remixes. Eventually, you will have the chance to participate in the telling of this story by sharing with us your unique DM information and experiences.

The Official Depeche Mode web site is not intended to replace other DM fan sites; rather, its purpose is to augment the information that currently exists elsewhere on the Internet through the hard work and dedication of many DM fans. (You'll find a set of links to DM fan sites in the links section).

Finally, because this site is intended as a service to fans of Depeche Mode, we welcome your constructive feedback on ways to improve the clarity and useability of the information. Send us your comments at comments@depechemode.com. We can't promise a personal reply to every message, but all suggestions will be considered.

Thanks for taking the time to participate in the first chapter of Depeche Mode on the Internet!
