KAZUHIKO KATOH - Vocals, Guitar While at university (studying politics) formed a folk-rock trio which had considerable amateur success. After graduation the group turned professional and produced several No. 1 albums and singles (one being the biggest selling single in Japan to date). When they disbanded Kazuhiko continued as a solo star, making three hit albums under his own name. Then three years ago, convinced that rock offered a more viable context for his songs, he formed the Sadistic Mika Band. |

Strangely, acquired a formidable expertise in modern techniques also, possibly the result of travelling the world for two years after leaving art school. MASAYOSHI TAKANAKA - Guitar Still only twenty-two years of age, he is generally regarded as the best rock guitarist in Japan. Half Chinese, Takanaka is a master of Oriental as well as Western muiscal styles, combining lyricism with power. He joined the Sadistic Mika Band at its inception, and was voted No. 1 guitarist in Japan's major pop poll last year. |

HIROSHI IMAI - Keyboards Studied at Tokyo Academy of Music before outraging his teachers by joining a psychdelic rock group called the Space Band. Imai played in numerous rock and jazz groups before joining the Sadistic Mika Band a few months after its formation. A talented composer and arranger, and extremely wry humorist. |

YUKIHIRO TAKAHASHI - Drums Slight of frame for such a powerful drummer. Yukihiro joined the Sadistic Mika Band right at the beginning, astonishing the other members because he had never played in a band before. A very sharp dresser and is the chief proponent of a cultish mode of couture in Tokyo which he describes as "international golfing style". |

TSUGUTOSHI GOTO - Bass The newest member of the band: Goto joined only three months ago, just before the recording of "Hot! Menu", when Rei O'Hara, the band's original bassist, left to form a new band. Goto's distinctive bass tone had made him the most sought-after session player in Tokyo. |
