YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA
You need explanation why I like them? No no, if we think about their pioneer spirit for new style of music "Techno-Pop" with Kraftwerk and Devo, you'll understand why I don't make mention of it. Their favorite musicians, film directors, fashion designers, artists had a great effect on sensivity when I was teenager:-) There are many *professional* sites. Please have a look at my favorite site. |

PLASTICS
In 1979 they released their debut 7" in UK, next year they toured with Ramones. as front act. In 1981 they toured again around Europe countries and USA. The rythm box sound of "Welcome Back", produced by Alex Sadkin, is funkiest and and coolest of any other drummer. In 1988 they re-unioned for two nights gig in Ink Stick Shibaura Factory, Tokyo. Pico-pico-pico....I like their kitsch sound and looks rather than YMO:-) |

MELON
Chica and Toshi formed with Gota(ds), Kudo(syn,dj) in 1981 after they broke up Plastics. They performed regularly at club "Pithecan Thropus Erectus" in Harajuku, Tokyo. And released their albums, singles mainly in UK and toured in Europe. Their sound always contains something *cool*. For example, the later they took Hip-hop style of early days. The charm of Melon's sound is different from "pico-pico-pico" of Plastics:-) |

SUSAN
Susan, do you have informations of her? She is a "Lio style" techno pop idol star, produced by Yukihiro Takahashi. You can find many credits of techno pop artists, such as Haruomi Hosono, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hideki Matsutake(well known as manipulator of YMO), Kazuhiko Katoh(ex.Sadistic Mika Band), Hajime Tachibana(Plastics), Keiichi Suzuki(The Beatniks)...and so on. Great!!! The song is full of pop feeling, but the sound has same taste of YMO's "BGM", recorded at that time. I like the balance of them. |

SANDII & THE SUNSETZ(Alfa years)
After Sunsetz broke up she approached Indonesian, Malay pop music and traditional Hawaiian music. But the start of her career was "Lio style" techno pop idol star produced by Haruomi Hosono. Especially "Eating Pleasure", her debut album, contains full of cute sound!! Their Alfa label years, from 1st to 3rd, albums are produced by Haruomi Hosono. In 1983 they toured Europian and Asian countries with Japan as front act. And in 1984 they released single "Sticky Music" and ranked top 10 in Australian chart. |

MIHARU KOSHI(1983〜86)
These 3 albums are produced by Haruomi Hosono. These albums have feeling that her esthtic world and cathcy techno pop world. This is her individuality. The single "L'amour Toujours", recorded with Telex, made a smash hit in Belgium and she toured Europe. In 1996 she formed unit "Swing Slow" with Haruomi Hosono, but the sound affected me little as compared with her past great works:-P |

TAMAO KOIKE
It's also "Lio style" techno pop. Finally, conditions for my favorites are catchy melody, cute sound of analog synth and female vocal:-) Her rare tracks, almost previously unreleased, released for bonus disc of Yen box. Music and backing tracks were produced by YMO, Haruomi Hosono, Toshi. They are very nice!! Now, she is wife of Kaoru Ijima, photographer, well known as producer of cassette tape magazine "TRA". |

SADISTIC MIKA BAND
In the band's most creative period, menbers are Kazuhiko Katoh(vo,g), Mika(vo), Rei Ohara(b), Yukihiro Takahashi(d), Masayoshi Takanaka(g), Hiroshi Imai(key), Their UK tour with Roxy Music, Tsugutoshi Goto joined to band instead of Rei Ohara. The Audience surprised at the performance of "the first rock band from the country of rising sun", especially for their technique. In Britain, they are still famous and you can find "Mika band section" in second-hand record store. I love them very much, but when I found them, they reunioned as Sadistic Mica Band.:-( |
