I Met Leehom!!

On the 30th of August, 2000, I received a phone call. To my surprise, it was my Internet pal, Yan Min. She told me that Leehom is coming….to PENANG!! He would be signing autographs. After I stopped jumping up and down and calmed down, we made arrangements to meet at the venue of Leehom’s autograph session.

FAST FORWARD A WEEK AND A HALF LATER…
On the 9th of September, I begged a ride from my sister and arrived at the Bukit Jambul Shopping Complex, feeling excited and happy. I couldn’t help letting a shriek when I saw a huge poster of Leehom, marking the venue of his autograph session. My shriek caused a few people to look at me weirdly, so I quickly lopped off to the place I was supposed to meet Yan Min.
After getting Yan Min, we wandered towards the long long line. We started lining up at about 2 o’clock. We waited, waited and waited. We endured the hot, hot sun and a few crazy drops of rain. We stood until our legs were practically broken. Nevertheless we waited on. (This was partially thanks to wrong information from everyone and everywhere about the time of the autograph session)
Finally…our Leehom, clad in a bright coloured shirt appeared, in sunglasses. The crowd went crazy and kept yelling, “Li Hong!! Leehom!!” Leehom addressed everyone before he sat down to sign autographs.
Gee...some people are obviously soooo uncivilized. Me, who, at first, was somewhere in the middle, got shoved to the very back. I remembered thinking:"If everyone would just LINE UP!!" Finally, after being shoved and squeezed into a pretzel, I was finally on the little stage, waiting for Mr. Fantastic to autograph my CD booklet. Wow…those few seconds I was face to face with the incredible Leehom! I can still remember every moment of it. First, I gave him my CD booklet. He signed (he’s left-handed) the booklet and said “Thank you” in Mandarin to me. I stuck out my hand, and being the gentleman he is, he gave my hand a firm shake even though the organizer behind him was shooting daggers cos I was kind of holding up the line….*grin*. I was starstruck. My right hand had created history. It made contact with Leehom, THE Leehom’s right hand. Wow!!
I was a happy, happy, happy girl that day. Same goes for Yan Min!! Every second of sun and rain I endured was worth it. Because, I got to meet one of the people I admire most in my life: Leehom Wang.

You guys may e-mail Yan Min or visit her homepage, Lee-Hom’s Planet where Yan Min had also written about her very own experience while meeting one of the greatest people in the Mandarin music industry.

Got a few photos taken. Not very nice ones, in fact, downright blur…but I’ll scan a few all the same. *Groan* Got a lot of scanning to do……hope I can do it soon!!
