MOVIE REVIEW: Anna and the King
STARRING: Chow Yun-Fatt, Jodie Foster, Bai Ling, Melissa Campbell and Harith Iskandar.
RATING(by me): A
I've been wanting to watch this movie for two reasons: one, it is filmed in Malaysia, my country. Two, Chow Yun-Fatt is one of its main stars, and I'm very supportive of Asian actors in America. I am not disappointed by the movie. Chow Yun-Fatt is excellent as the regal and stubborn King Mongkut, and Jodie Foster is also exceptional as the beautiful, compassionate and also stubborn Anna. The ending is not what I expected, though. :) Basically, this movie is a beautiful one, and one will not find the 2 hours and 48 minutes in the cinema boring, or not worth one's time. Personally, I prefer the 1960's The King and I, starring Debra Car. But that one is a comedy, and this one is a drama. Strongly recommended for Chow Yun Fatt and Jodie Foster's fans, and ALL the Malaysians.
MUSIC REVIEW: Eason Chan-Happiness(陳 奕 迅)
RATING(by me): A
Eason is one of the up and coming singers and Hong Kong, and this album is an excellent one. I especially love the title track, Happiness. "Float" is another of my favourites. Other songs are pretty good as well, this album is definitely worth the buy. For those who want to try something new besides their usual artistes, I recommend Eason's Happiness to them.
MUSIC REVIEW: Daniel Chan-Substance
RATING(by me): B
Daniel Chan's effort this time, as usual, is only medicore. He STILL can't control his heavy breathing well enough, although he has improve. (Think "Guess"(Cai cai cai) from his "Xin You Du Zhong" album)The title track is not too bad, but "C'est La Vie" is an example of one of Daniel Chan's worse efforts. Don't buy this one if you're in for easy listening(this one is a noisy album), but for fans of Daniel, this one is recommended.
