1. The Basics: First of all, tell us who you are, where you come from, what's your part in Hip-Hop and how you got started.
Answer: My name is Jaymicro, and I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland but I'am currently living and working in Stuttgart, Germany. My part in Hip-hop now is to establish myself as a dope and quality MC. I got started listening to songs from Grandmaster Flash, the Fatboys, LL and when I first heard the song Called the "Message" I knew hip-hop was in my blood. |
|
2. The rumors: Be objective and honest: what do people say about you? Who do you think people will find you to be similar to? Not: whom would you like to be compared to, but truly, whom do you think folks will equivocate you to?
Answer: Well to be honest , a lot of people judge your music before they even hear it. I have heard many times from people telling me how hard it is to sell English hip-hop in Germany, but after they see me perform or hear my Demo they quickly change there opinion.I'am a firm believer that talent and smarts will over come anything!!! I have heard a lot of people say my style was similar to Jedi Mind Tricks Planet Asia, Swollen Members. |
|
3. Mirror, mirror on the wall: Now, who would you like to be compared to? Why?
Answer:
Well truthfully myself, because I work hard trying to perfect my own style and my own sound, which I think is very important for and artist to separate himself from the everyday usual run of the mill stuff. But I have great respect and love for Biggie, Tupac, EPMD, Royce 5'9, Big Pun , Fat Joe and many others because I feel that these Mc's brought something new to the game and if I could just take something from these Mc's That I named, then it would be technique because they all have outstanding technique and delivery!!!! |
|
4. On the beat tip: How would you describe your beats? Who would you compare yourself to on the production tip? Who is your favorite producer? Why?
Answer:
My beats are mainly underground beats a little dark and sinister, sound of da street .I like hard beats that you can really feel . My favorite Producers are Alchemists, Havoc, Dre, and Primo in that order. |
|
5. Check the technique: What equipment do you use? If money ain't a thing, what stuff would you like to work with? What are your sources for sampling?
Answer:
Well most of my beats are made by different producers and they use the basic stuff mpc 2000 etc. My dream is too, one day record in a top of the line recording studio. Old records looking for unique sounds that nobodys used yet. |
|
6. Who`s the mack: First, name 3 people in this industry you feel had a positive influence on Hip-Hop and second name 3 people you feel had a negative effect (whatever: Mcing, DJing, Producing, Clothes, Attitudes )!
Answer:
Without question the Sugar Hill Gang , Curtis Blow, LL, because they kept hip-hop alive when it was not accepted and no one was making any money they did it from the heart and without them there would be no us so I will always respect the roots that grew this beautiful tree. Negative influence the people who killed Biggie and Tupac because the took to of the best Mc's of all time away from the culture which I feel was very bad for hip-hop worldwide because the media dismissed our music as violent and not a real art form which it rightfully is, and Also Playa-haters who try to stop other talented Mc's from getting a deal, bad mouthing them to labels and other business people because they are scared somebodys gonna take there spot in the game, which is wac cause if you got real skill ,your still gonna eat. |
|
7. Who got the props: What makes you decide a rapper/MC/DJ/Producer is phatt? When do you give props? Name your favorite beat/loop/rhyme/punchline/scratch?
Answer:
Delivery and lyrics is very important and subject matter not just the everyday bitches, hoes, and money rap." Your reign on the top was short like leprechauns who rocks da spot Biggie!!!!! My all time favorite song Ghetto Boys "My Minds Playin Tricks". |
|
8. On the strenght: Where do you feel are your strenghts (lyrics, beats, flow )? Which of your own songs do you like the most? Why? Which beat, which verse do you think is your best?
Answer:
I think my strength lies in both my lyrics and flow I try to train myself to be all around. Supa Dupa Cat. Because it s got a real underground feel and sound. I feel I kicked a lot of good verses but . Plain and simple I drop knowledge like Aristotle/ trying to shut me down is like catching lightning in a bottle / when I rip mics I do it full throttle/ flow classic like a Delgado with inky rims and spokes. |
|
9. Critical beatdown: How well do you take critisism? Do you give criticism? Would you tell a wack MC he/she is phat, only because they're nice? Do you tell where to progress or do you diss them? Do you feel dissed if someone doesn't feel your shit and straight up tells it to you? Do you take it personal?
Answer:
I'am very open to criticism, that is why I have sent my demo to various Hip-hop magazines here in Germany and to other people in the bizz for feedback , I will respect and honest and fair opinion of my music but you also have to be careful because there are a lot of Haters out here in the scene. And just Because one or two people say they aint feelin you does not mean your music is not good because there is Also a lot of people who don't know shit about hip-hop running the bizz believe that!!! That statement is not About just my music, that's for every Mc's with skills who tryin to fight there way through industry politics, Keep your head up and believe in your shit and never give up that's my advice for today!!! I'am a very truthfull person so I would politely give my opinion when asked is it hot or not!!!! |
|
10. Keeping it real: How much of what you tell in your lyrics reflect your everyday life and how much is fiction? How do you feel about the "realness" in Hip-Hop?
Answer:
Well the new material that I'am working on I rap about a few true life painful events that I went through with Family and homeboys but I was a little skeptical to write about it because of the bad memories. But some one has too talk about the state of the world and all the problems , so to me that's realness. gansta rap is wac cause I'am from the hood and I know how shit goes down!!! but I 'am also smart enough to know that once and Mc' gets signed 99% aint livin that life they talking about no more unless they stupid because they getting paid well enough to live any where in the world they want. |
|
11. My philosophy: How would you describe your style? What attitudes shine through the most in your songs? What are some of your topics?
Answer:
