THE RANMA ARGUMENTS     All his life, Ranma's had no trouble drawing the girls. His attractions are obvious: He's totemo kawaii, and he knows it! He's confident to the verge of conceit in his martial art skills. He's honest and direct... almost tactless in fact... alright, he's downright insensitive at times! He's fearless in battle - except for that little cat-phobia, and then he snaps like a fresh, cold pickle. (strange analogy yes?) Finally, he's got that smoldering, come hither- I mean, playing-hard-to-get quality that the girls find irresistable. So, it's no wonder he's got 4, yes, count them, 4 fiancees, not to mention a number of guys that like him too. Keeping this in mind, I've made arguments against all of Ranma's prospective, um, partners -- excluding his true love Akane.  ^_^

"Stupid."

Ranma and Ukyou? Not bloody likely. 1. It would be like incest! They grew up together, Ucchan and Ran-chan. Ukyou was Ranma's best friend in childhood until Genma and Ranma left to continue training... taking with them her family's okonomiyaki business. Ranma can't start treating Ucchan like a girl. He's still adjusting to her new form and still treats her like one of the guys. How can he take her professed love seriously? He doesn't -- too him, her love is like the never- ending supply of okonomiyaki he mooches off her: delicious food for his ego, but not satisfying (Ranma seems to be eternally hungry) like Akane's love.  2. Her love is based on a little compliment from him. Ukyou was all set to bring the Saotomes down -- ruin their lives as they had ruined hers, since she had been forced to take up the guise of a boy after her "fiancee" left her.  But when Ranma called her "cute" Ukyou's revenge crumbled and suddenly, the fierce, spatula wielding warrior turned into a lovesick teenager. (Ukyou no baka!) 3. Ukyou and Ryoga! (This is mainly for my sister, a huge Ryoga and Ukyo advocate) Shameless plug here: The Ryoga and Ukyou Perfect Pair Page Cohorts in schemes turned lovers? It should have been....  Ukyou doesn't make Ryoga all flustered, like Akane. Except for that first meeting between them, I don't think Ryoga would eventually die from loss of blood from his bloody noses if he was with her. Ryoga can appreciate her loneliness. As a wanderer all his life, lost and adrift, he can relate to her estranged childhood.

  

Ranma and Shampoo? Aiya! 1. Shampoo hated Ranma's girl side and wanted to kill her. Ranma-chan ate Shampoo's entire prize for winning the Amazon competition. Then, he beat her with one kick when she challenged him -- in front of her whole village. Do you think she'd thank him for the honor and send him on his way? No, of course not. She gave him the "Kiss of Death," promising to hunt him fown wherever he went. : o  It seems as if Shampoo still wants to kill Ranma at times in devious ways... she'll feed him magicked food, he does something or another to displeasure Akane (usually look as if he's interested in any other girl) and the girl does the job for the Amazon -- bashes him to a pulp. 2. Ranma's not an Amazon Ranma-kun also beat her (accidentally) when she came to Nerima to carry out her Mission of Murder. But does he get a "Kiss of Death?" Nooo, he gets Shampoo for a wife, according to Amazon law. Chinese Amazon laws do not apply in Tokyo and Ranma doesn't have to follow them. If he hadn't beat her, Shampoo wouldn't have given him another look.  3. Shampoo's cursed form is a cute little pink cat.  One problem: Ranma's aforementioned phobia about cats. Hmmm, after being subjected to the training of Cat Fu, I think that a wife who would occasionally purr and lick herself  would be sufficient to keep the poor guy locked in terror the rest of his life. 4. Her true love Mousse! The only reason she seems to Mousse indifferent is because he's so blind he always screws up when professing his love, trying to save her, or fighting for her honor. But then, she's also blind -- she thinks she has a chance with Ranma and can't see that her perfect love is actually Mousse. I mean, he is cute, and very protective, and gallant and sweet and - and - the list goes on.  ^_^

Ranma and Kodachi? Terrifying... 1. Kodachi also hates Ranma-chan For some strange reason (maybe that they're both really stupid), both she and her brother think Ranma-kun and Ranma-chan are together. So, Kodachi places Ranma as a rival for Ranma's affections. Confusing, ne? Ranma-chan beat Kodachi in a Martial Arts Rhythmic Gymnastic Competition, exposing the girl's wicked deeds: cheating by having the other members of her team move the platform around, sabotaging Furinkan High's team, trying to injure Akane before the match. 2. She's the dangerous combination of a martial artist and a demented scientist! Kodachi doesn't need any Chinese magic herbs to help her (like Shampoo). No, she makes her potions all by herself. Of the most common: sleeping powder and a delusion that Ranma loves her. 3. That laugh could drive anyone insane! OH-HohohohohohO! Not to mention the way she leaps around in a leotard, twirling her ribbon, and throwing black rose petals all over the place.
