Pokémon Gold and Silver
What’s that? Did Nintendo actually decide to make a NEW Pokémon game…
on Game boy? Yup.
After 4 incarnations of the
original game, Nintendo and Game Freak finally decided to make an all new Pokémon game, Pokémon Gold and Silver!
The most interesting thing, though, is that it will include all 151 Pokémon from the original…
PLUS 100 all new ones! Including that golden bird flying over the rainbow in the 1st episode of pokémon, a Slowpoke with strange clothes and a ruffled collar, and an ALL-NEW, fat, blue version of Pikachu!
Plus, there’s an all-new story line, a New World to explore, and all new items and stuff. Also, it’s rumored the Pokémon will act more realistic,
be
such as being nocturnal or diurnal, so you’ll actually have to wait for them to wake up at certain times during the day to battle them. Of course, for this to work there would have to be some kind of built-in clock/timer, or something of the like.
And, Nintendo added full GB Color compatibility, the ability to print out pictures of your monsters from your PokeDex, and totally revamped graphics. One problem though,
is that you won’t be able to trade data with any of the of the original game (red, green, blue, and yellow), meaning you wont be able to battle or trade Pokémon with someone unless they have Pokémon Gold or
Silver. Although it has been speculated that if you, for instance, trade the new version of Pikachu, Mariru to the old game, it will be
transferred as a regular old Pikachu, but, personally, I think this is bull. Oh, and I almost forgot, you will actually be able to tell what gender all of your Pokémon are, and be able to breed them! But keep in mind, you CAN’T breed things like electric fire Pokémon. Drat. Oh, well, it’s still a cool feature.
These two games are set to be released in Japan for GB Color this March, but (Surprise!) it hasn’t
been announced yet if it will be released stateside… although it does
look promising considering Pokémon Yellow’s recent announcement that it’s headed to the U.S. Just keep your fingers crossed.
