Pokémon News

Feb. 5, 1999

Hello again! Mewtwo here. I'm in a somewhat good mood today (hey, it's Friday!)so I got some new, ya know, news for ye's.

First off, Pokémon Pinball GB is now scheduled for a March release! Whoo hoo! Don't you just love me? Of course you do.

Moving on, Pokémon Anime. Yes, I'm happy to announce that new episodes WILL be airing shortly (in 2 weeks), but, suprisingly, from what I heard, only 12 new episodes will be aired... on Saturdays...? Then, 52 new episodes will be aired sometime this Fall... wait... Fall?! Wow. That's a long time. How long can it really take?! Now, keep in mind that this what I've HEARD, hence, maybe it's not true. Although, I did see this on a number of reliable sources... oh, well.

And, last but not least, some exiting news! From one of my many sources of information (one that almost always knows what it's talking about) I've picked up the information that the 2 Pokémon movies, Pikachu's Summer Vacation and Mewtwo Strikes back, are coming here, to the U.S.! YAY! Now let us all come together and sing and dance, spreading our creed throughout the land in one long, glistening, conga-line of joy! Woo!

HOI HOI! So, I suppose you're wondering about this so called "un-groovy" news? Well, I suppose it's kind of good, espicially if you live in Canada. And if you do, you probably already know this... WELL, apparently according to my official Canadian correspondent (aka: my freind on icq) tells me that NEW episodes of Pokémon are being aired on YTV!

Yeah, like that's really fair... First it was like, "HAHA Canada we Americanesians get to see an episode every day, and you get one a week!" But now, it's...it's... just not fair... Anyway, at least we know that new episodes have already been translated and are all done and ready to air here. (hopefully the Feb. 1st rumor is true) And that's an EXCLUSIVE, baby! Oh, and by the way, if I somehow find out that my official Canadian correspondent is lieing to me, well, then... he will die.

In the Upcoming episodes, apparently, Charmeleon evolved into Charizard, and Doctor Proctor's truck crashes and all the Pokemon escape. Yes, it's all true, and remember, you heard it all right here at PokéMon World!

ARGH. I know i reported that new episodes of Pokemon were on the way, arriving here today, but, well... i suppose i was just misinformed.... BUT, there is word that new episodes will air starting February 1st, but I'm still not convinced. Oh, well. We'll just keep on hoping...

Oh, and I'm in the process of creating my PokéDex, and it'll have HM & TM Lists, a complete list of all the attacks and their effects, an item list, information and pics of all the Pokémon, including what levels they learn their attacks and all the stats, COMING SOON!

Ok, ok, stop yer whining. I’ve cooked up a nice big batch’o’news for ye’s. So read. Oh, wait… no one KNOWS about my site yet. Drat. Read anyway.

New news. Yay. At the top of the list, in the Jnauary bonus issue of Nintendo Power, they posted that Pokémon Yellow has been confirmed for the U.S.!! Yay. Although it's basically the same as the blue, red, and green versions, it has some innovative features such as a built in Pikachu "virtual pet" that you have to care for along your quest. Neat stuff.

Oh, and another Pokémon game has been announced for GB, although it's probably not what you'd expect... it's Pokémon Pinball! And the best thing about it is that Nintendo has added new features such as a built in shakey-shakey device, ala rumble pak style, that vibrates during gameplay for a more immersive feel. Although I was thinking, wouldn't it be kinda hard to play the game while the screen is shaking? Hmmm....

And for all those people searching high and low for a Mew, but can't find it, well, the last installment of Pokémon Power is holding a contest, and if you win, the Grand prize is a mew!!! Just send in your game pak, and they'll transfer it right onto your game. And, if you don't have a game pak, they'll GIVE you one! Of course, only 151 entries will be randomly selected, which gives you about a one in a bazzilion chance of getting one. Oh, well. Of course, if you don’t win, there’s always an alternate way of getting him… AND it’ll only cost $29.99! See, it’s this little thing called a “gameshark”. Heh.

Also, Pokémon gold and silver were ready to be released in Japan come Christmas, but NCL (Nintendo of Japan, of course) decided to delay it and give it the color treatment (you know, GB color), and it’s now set to be released in March 99’. With 100 new Pokémon in it’s pocket, and the ability to crossbreed Pokémon, Pokémon Gold/Silver are surefire hits. Japanese gamers will eat this one up. Keep in mind that it’s still undecided about whether these titles, or any of the N64 Pokémon titles are coming to the U.S., but with the recent announcement of Pokémon Yellow, it does seem likely. Keep your eyes peeled for this one. Oh, and on a final note, I’ll soon be adding new information on this one, AND pics of some of the NEW Pokémon! Joy.

Oh, and the Pokémon trading card game is well underway to be released next month. Created by Wizards of the Coast (or some such name, I don’t remember exactly) makers of Magic: The Gathering, it looks way groovy. Go pre-order them now at EB (Electronics Boutique) because they’re offering a special bonus offer, where if you pre-order now, get the card game in Feb., then send the receipt in to the adress listed in Pokémon Power Vol. 6, they’ll send you a free expansion set! Oh, and a new Pokémon game titled Pokémon Card Game GB, or somethin’ similar, I’m not to good with names, is now being developed. It’s like the Pokémon Card Game on Game Boy! I’ll be adding a preview and screenshots soon (Hey! I’m updating as fast as I can!)

And now, last but not least, Pokémon Snap, the third Pokémon N64 title, has now officially been transferred to cart. That does it. That’s the final nail in the 64DD’s coffin. Period. But that’s good for us, since we WILL NOT be getting the 64DD over here. At least now we’ll probably be getting it sooner than later. And yes, I’ll be adding a preview, screenshots, the whole kit’n’kaboodle soon.

Well, guess that wraps it up for now. Cya.
