Fast Forward In Time - Chapter 12

by: Leoda

The next few weeks had gone by quickly. Elizabeth had taken a long overdue vacation and was spending all her time with Lucky. They were still staying at his parents house so that he could be close to his family. The first night that Lu-Lu had him back she slept in the bed with him and Elizabeth, neither of them minding at all. She hung on his every word and insisted on always being next to him no matter what he was doing. They all thought it was sweet, but Luke had drawn the line when she wanted to take the rest of the school year off. If it hadn't been for Lucky she may have quit altogether. Lucky had been reunited with all his family and friends and Emily had even come home for a couple of days. Everyone was so surprised and so happy that he was alive and back where he belonged. Lucky was uneasy though. He would never forget Faison and the years he had missed with the people he loved because of him. He was waiting for him to reenter his life. He was also concerned about his financial future. He needed a job. He wanted to be able to buy nice things for Elizabeth the way she did for him. Since he had gotten back she had been showering him with clothes and other things telling him they were for the special occasions they had missed. He knew she made lots of money but he wanted some of his own.

Early Wednesday, June 2nd, 2007

Lucky had gone to the club to discuss his fears with his father.

"Hey dad!" Lucky called to his father as he entered the club.

Luke was sitting down at a table trying to straighten out his bookkeeping. "Hey! What are you doing here at this hour of the morning?"

Lucky sat down across from his him. "I just dropped Elizabeth off at work."

"I thought she was on vacation?" Luke asked to him.

"She is, she had to go sign some papers." Lucky rubbed his forehead.

"What's wrong? Did you run into Adrian?" Luke teased him.

Lucky looked at his father. He hadn't even thought of him since their father/son talk. "No, but when I do I'm gonna have a little chat with him."

Luke laughed as he got up and went behind the bar. "Do you want something to drink?" he asked as he poured himself some orange juice.

Lucky got up and sat on a stool, "No. I need a job."

Luke put his glass down and leaned on the bar. "Lucky you just got back. Relax for a while before you go headin' into the trenches. You've got lots of time."

"No I don't. For eight years all I did was sit and think and wait to live my life. I want to be able to do what I want, but you need money for that." Lucky laid his forehead on the bar. "I was cooped up in that little cell for so long that I can't remember how to survive anymore."

"What the hell do you think you were doing all those years? You were surviving. Just like we taught you to. Stop worrying. You'll be fine." Luke picked up his drink and drank it down.

Lucky looked up at his father. "It isn't me that I'm worried about. I want to be able to support Elizabeth. I want to be able to support the family we want to have."

"Listen son, you are the smartest, strongest person I've ever met. It always amazed me that you were my kid because of that. Those are traits you got from your mother. You got your looks and charm from me." They both laughed. "You know, with or without money, Elizabeth is gonna love you. You don't doubt that, do you?"

Lucky smiled, "No. That I know I can count on."

"Do you really want something to do?" Luke asked him.

"Yeah." Lucky said interested.

"Okay. Next week, I want you to go buy me a computer out of my money and show me how to use it."

"Why?" Lucky asked confused.

"Because I can't do the books for this place anymore, so I am passing that responsibility off and I need to look like I know what I'm doing."

"Okay, so why not tomorrow?"

"Because, I have to mentally ready myself for a couple of days first." He said smiling.

"Alright." Lucky glanced at the watch Elizabeth had bought him. "I gotta go get Elizabeth. I'll see you later."

"Later." Luke called after him.

Elizabeth was waiting outside for Lucky to pick her up when she saw Adrian coming towards her. Lately she got nervous when she saw him. He had gotten rude with her a couple of times when she had declined his offer for a date. One time he had grabbed her arm and refused to let her walk away from him. She never told anyone about it or that he was making her feel uneasy. She just assumed it was the always constant fear from her rape that strangers and odd people made her nervous.

"Where have you been? I haven't seen you in a couple of days," he asked her. He stood a little to close and looked her up and down. "You look really good."

Lucky coming back from the dead had been in all the papers but there had been no mention of Elizabeth.

"I'm on vacation," she said smiling. She wasn't going to let her fear ruin her high.

Adrian was surprised. "Since when does the lovely Miss Workaholic take vacations?"

"Since I was given a reason." She was still smiling at him.

"For someone who has never had one or even taken a sick day this must be a pretty important reason." She laughed and he laughed nervously at her mood. She was so happy, he thought that maybe she would finally agree to go out with him

Lucky had pulled into the parking lot when he saw her talking to some guy. He got out of the car and walked towards them.

Adrian leaned in a little closer to her. "Could I possibly join you wherever you're going on your vacation?"

Lucky was close enough to hear them and he could see how nervous Elizabeth had become.

"What?" Elizabeth asked him as she stepped back a little.

"Oh come on, you heard me. Why is it that you keep refusing to spend time with me?" he asked her. He spoke softly, "If you just let go of your high and mighty attitude you'd see how good I could make you feel. Just let me." He stepped closer and reached for her.

Lucky was furious. "GET AWAY FROM HER!" he yelled as he got in between them and pushed him to the ground.

Adrian hit the ground with a thud. "Who the hell are you?"

Lucky squat down in front of him. "I'm your worst nightmare if you ever come near Elizabeth again. Do you understand?"

Adrian got up and looked at Elizabeth. "Who is this clown?"

Lucky stood between them again and clenched his fists. "Are you deaf, or just plain stupid?"

Adrian recognized him from the picture in the paper. "Oh my God! You're that guy that was kidnaped all those years ago?"

"Yeah, I am," Lucky said calmly. "And I have a lot of bottled up frustration from my experience. So, if you would prefer not to be on the receiving end of it I suggest you walk away. NOW!"

Adrian could see the rage behind Luckys' eyes and decided he should leave.

Elizabeth hadn't said a word.

Lucky turned around to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. He bent his knees so he was at eye level with her. "Did you ever tell anyone how much he scared you?"

"He doesn't." She sounded calm but she was trembling slightly.

Lucky led her to the car and pulled the door open for her. Once he was inside he turned in his seat to face her. "Elizabeth, I know you. I've seen the look you had on your face when he got closer to you before." He cupped her face in his hands, "You were afraid. Why? Is it because of the rape?" he asked her softly.

Elizabeth brought her eyes up to meet his. "Yeah, a little. Anytime someone I don't know and trust gets a little to close I get nervous. But it also has to do with him. He's been getting creepier over the last couple of months."

Lucky became alarmed. "What? Has this Adrian or whatever his name is ever hurt you?"

"How did you know his name?" she asked him trying to avoid answering the question.

"My father mentioned some guy that you work with who likes you," he reached down and took her hands. "Answer me, please."

Elizabeth took a deep breath. "He grabbed my arm for like a second and wouldn't let me go." She noticed the look on his face and quickly said, "But I got free and that was it."

Lucky was really angry. "Why didn't you tell someone? He could have..."

"Lucky, I'm okay," she said cutting him off. "He's just a jerk and now that you've given him hell he won't dare bother me anymore."

Lucky wasn't convinced but he didn't want to argue. "Do you still feel like going over to Carlys'?"

"Yeah," she said giving him a kiss.

>>>>>

When they got to Jason and Carlys' penthouse they were greeted at the door by the two of them in their robes.

"We're not interrupting are we?" Lucky asked uncomfortably.

"No," they both said a little to quickly. "Come on in." Carly finished.

Carly and Jason had gotten married before the ink was even dry on her divorce papers from A.J. in June of 2000. They had started having an affair shortly after she had married A.J. when Jason had admitted to her how hard it was for him to picture her and A.J. sleeping together. They had custody of Michael because A.J. was drinking again and living in the streets. Nobody seemed to be able to help him anymore. Since Carly called Elizabeth a few years ago and asked her over for supper they had gotten really close.

Jason gave Carly a kiss and turned to Lucky, "Come on, I need some help moving some furniture." They all laughed

"Jason!" Carly shrieked.

"I have something I need to talk to him about and we always work while we talk. Right Lucky?" Jason asked him smiling.

"Yeah, we did." Lucky answered him.

"No. We do," he corrected him. He pointed up over the stairs, "The room is at the end of the hall, I'll go get changed and meet you there." He headed up over the stairs.

Lucky turned to Carly, "Do you have any idea what this is about?"

She shook her head even though she did. "No."

Lucky leaned down and kissed Elizabeth softly, "I'll see you in a bit."

When they couldn't hear him anymore Carly turned to Elizabeth. "You look so good, girl. So happy, so alive. So tell me… have you guys hit the sheets yet?" Carly was grinning wickedly at her.

"Of course not! Not yet," she said sitting down.

"Why not?" Carly shrieked again.

"Would you keep your voice down." Carly sat on the couch next to her. "We have barely had enough time to kiss lately, let alone make love. Besides, I don't think either one of us is ready."

"Well, how are you gonna ever find out if you don't at least try?"

"What do you mean?" Elizabeth didn't understand.

"Don't you remember when you would ask me how I could be so free with sex?" Carly asked her. "Well?…"

"You always told me that most people have to ease into it, but you don't." Elizabeth was still confused, "So?"

"You are so sweet and innocent. Listen carefully…"

>>>>>

Lucky and Jason had moved all the furniture to the spare room on the other side of the hall. Jason had explained that Carly wanted to fix this room up for when Lucas stayed over.

They were sitting down enjoying a drink when Jason asked, "Do you have a job yet?"

Lucky looked at him and swallowed. "No. I haven't really started to look. There isn't much that I'm qualified to do so it may take a while."

"Well, I have an offer for you!" Jason said.

"What is it?" Lucky asked him cautiously.

>>>>>

"Do you understand now? It's like getting into an ocean. Scary at first, but once you're in there it's beautiful. Since we both know jumping in head first would not be a good move for you, I suggest you…," she looked at Elizabeth before continuing and smiled. "Test the water, and see how it feels."

Elizabeth smiled.

>>>>>

Lucky was in total shock. "You want me to manage your coffee company?"

Jason nodded. "Just until you find something else. I don't want to do it anymore. If you like it you can keep doing it and if you don't I'll get someone else. I have some other things going on so I don't have the time."

"You're not going back into the mob are you?" Lucky asked him.

Jason just looked at him.

"Sorry," Lucky said. "What makes you think I could do it? I don't know a thing about coffee or running a company."

"Lucky there's nothing to it. You're a smart kid and I'm not worried." He looked at Luckys' face and read his expression. "If you don't want to that's fine, I have some other people lined up. Don't feel like you have to do this."

Lucky scratched the back of his head. "Can I think about it and get back to you?"

"Sure." Jason walked to the door, "Let's go downstairs."

>>>>>

When they were driving back to the Spencer home Lucky told Elizabeth about the offer Jason had made to him. She never said a word about it. When they pulled into the driveway Lucky turned around to face her, "What's the matter?"

Elizabeth pulled Lucky into a deep kiss. He had been totally thrown by her actions and even though he knew that they needed to talk he decided it could wait. They hadn't really had any chance to be alone. She hoisted herself up into his lap with her legs on either side of him and her back pinned against the steering wheel. She was wearing a long skirt that she had to pull up around her to get comfortable. Lucky glanced down at her exposed legs and sucked in his breath.

Elizabeth put her hands in his hair and gently pulled his head back. She positioned her lips just above his and whispered, "Kiss Me." As he leaned forward she leaned her head back so he would connect with her neck and when he did she moaned. Lucky was pleasantly surprised. He put his hands on her back and pulled her to him and trailed kisses up and down her neck. He pulled her mouth down to his for another deep kiss as his hands moved from her back to her feet and stroked her bare legs all the way to where her skirt lay on her thighs. They were both on fire as Elizabeth pulled back from him. They were breathing hard and fast as they stared at eachother.

"Is… this… okay?" she asked him softly through her breaths.

Lucky never took his eyes off of hers as he slid his hands further up under her skirt until they rested on her hips. When his fingers began playing with the band of her lace underwear she took in a sharp breath and placed her hands on her skirt over his so he would stop.

"Okay, phew, that's enough." She said smiling.

Lucky knew she stopped because of how she was feeling and not because she was afraid. He smiled at her and starting gently moving his fingers again.

"Lucky…," she loved the way he was making her feel and she didn't want him to stop but she knew he had to. "Please stop."

He removed his hands from her hips and brought them up to her face. "You…," he tried to speak but his voice was caught in his throat. He dropped his hands and shook his head.

She opened the driver's side door of the car and brought herself up on her knees. Luckys' face was only about an inch away from her breasts. She smiled when she saw him staring at them. He watched her lean over him and climb out of the car. When she had straightened her skirt and turned to look at him he was still watching her. He had his head against the headrest turned towards her and he had his hands over his obvious desire. He smiled as she gently pushed the door closed.

She leaned in the open window and lightly brushed his lips with her own. "I'll see you in a few minutes," she said as she moved away from the car towards the house. She was swaying her hips seductively the whole way. She turned around just in time to see him bang his head against the steering wheel.
