At Kelly's Liz started her shift early. One of her waitresses had called out sick so she had to pull a double shift.
Lucky walked all through town, each place reminding him of Liz. He passed by Eli's and remembered taking her for he first time and all the times they got take out. Then Lucky found himself in the empty lot where the bike shop once stood. As Lucky looked around he was flooded with memories. Liz had made the once dirty and empty room really feel like a home to him. They were so happy there. Lucky continued on his walk and headed to Kelly's. He was not going to move in till the morning but he wanted to check the room out anyway. He knew it would be safe since Liz was not expected in till later.
Lucky walked up to the door and was about to open it when he saw Liz behind the counter. Lucky was in shock to see her. She must have come in early, he thought. Lucky just stood there and looked at her. When he saw her in the cemetary it had been dark, but now he could really see her. She still had the curl to her hair and her petite size. She was beautiful in every way like she always was. Lucky wanted to go inside so badly and he almost did, but stopped when he saw Jason come out from the back. Jason walked up behind Liz and wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her. Lucky quickly turned away. He knew Liz was with Jason but he was still hurting.
Inside Kelly's Liz jumped when she felt Jason's arms around her from behind.
Liz: You scared me.
Jason: Sorry I came in through the back.
Liz turned around and kissed him
Liz: I'm glad you're here, I missed you.
Jason: I missed you too. But I can't stay; I have to some work at the warehouse today. I just came by to give you this, (he kissed her)
Liz: Well thank you sir.
Jason: I'll see you later?
Liz: Yeah sure. Bye
Jason left the diner and Liz continued on with her work.
After Lucky walked away from Kelly's he went to the docks. He sat down on the edge as he legs hung over the dock. Seeing Liz with Jason had really hit him hard. Lucky missed Liz so much and all he wanted to do was hold her and kiss her again. He thought about the one time he made love to her and how wonderful it had been. He missed how her body felt pressed up against his and how soft her lips were. Lucky wanted nothing more than to be with her again like that. Again he reached up to his chest and felt his only memento under his shirt.
At Kelly's, Liz found someone to come in a work the night shift. It had gotten dark but she did not want to go home yet so she decided to go for a brisk walk on the docks. Liz made it to the docks and noticed someone sitting down but did not think anything of it. For some reason she did not feel threatened by this person. Liz proceeded to go down to the stairs to sit on the bench.
Lucky heard someone coming down the steps so he stood up to his feet and turned around. His eyes locked with Liz's. He was shocked to see her standing there before him, but Liz was even more shocked to see him.
Liz was frozen, she did not know what to do. She stared into Lucky's deep blue eyes. He was taller and he filled out a lot, but still Lucky. Lucky could see she was scared so he decided to speak up.
Lucky: Hello Elizabeth
Liz: (soft voice) Lucky?
Lucky: Yeah, it's me
Liz: No! You're dead. (tears were streaming down her face) You're not really here.
Lucky: I am here. I'm alive.
Lucky slowly walked over to Liz. Not wanting to scare anymore he stood at an arms length and reached out his hand to her. Liz did not know what to do. She was afraid to take his hand because she was afraid he would disappear. Liz took a deep breath and reached for his hand. When she felt his hand warm and real she started crying harder.
Liz: This cant be! You cant be Lucky.
Liz released his hand and grabbed him by his shirt. She started to unbutton his shirt in a fast and desperate motion as tears fell from her eyes. Her action surprised Lucky.
Lucky: Elizabeth what are you doing?
Liz: (out of breath) The night of the fire, the subway token was no where to be found. I was told it would have burned to ashes from the heat. So if you're Lucky, he would have never have taken it off.
Once Liz had Lucky's shirt halfway unbuttoned she pushed the material open and gasped when she saw the gold necklace that rested on Lucky's bare chest.
Liz: Oh my god
(**AUTHOR'S NOTE: I know in GH, Lucky did not have the subway token after the fire, but in this story I wanted him to have something to truly convince Liz it was really him. In the same way when Bobbie saw Roy's scar. Sorry for the little difference, but it's the only thing I could think of**).
