My Review: I can't begin to describe how refreshing it is to see a Homer episode where he's not acting like a Jerkass. Here, he's the consummate Old Homer: a dim-bulb, fat-assed slob, yes, but much more than that. He tries to do the right thing, in his "loveable oaf" way, but screws up only because of his essential Simpson-ness. That makes a case against witless celebrations of Jerkassed-ness like "Trash of the Titans" and "When You Dish Upon a Star," where he's as annoying as an alcoholic uncle at a family reunion. The rest of the episode is fun, too. Writer Jeff Martin comes into his own after the uneven "Dead Putting Society." (4/5)
