and his father was Italian. It is very possible that Stefano DiMera could be
Franco's father, as well as Andre DiMera or Tony DiMera. I have a
suspicion that Kate Roberts could also be his mother.)
Who is Franco Kelly?

Muscle and/or manipulator for hire, Franco Kelly came to Salem to try and win Hope's heart away from Bo. It seems that he'd been hired by Kate Roberts to turn Bo to the dark side (ie, her daughter, that girl we all love to bash, Billie "The Tramp" Reed). The two of them were hired as models for Countess Wilhelmina Cosmetics, and their perfume ads are prominently placed within the hallowed halls of Titan. So, anyhow, Franco didn't succeed and ended up dating The Tramp, much to her mother's chagrin. That fizzled out eventually and Franco somehow overheard Sami whining to Roman, her daddy, about the fact that no men like her. Since the Italian Stallion needed a green card to stay in the U. S. A., he decided to pursue Sami and marry her. The rest of their history can be found in the Brady-Kelly Union section of the B&H, Inc. Casefile.
What are his main conflicts?

Lucas hates him and the thought of Franco raising Will is too much for him to bear. Austin, who has recently seen Franco hanging around a strip club (what was he doing in there, anyway?!) doesn't trust him either. Sami is becoming a problem for Franco because her bitchiness and her predeliction for scheming, lying, and being an all-around mena person is turning him off so that he has to fantasize about strippers to be able to, umm. . . "perform" for her.
What would I do with Franco is I were a DOOL writer?
  • Beef up the storyline with him and Sami. What's he waiting for, a bomb to drop? He's got a hell of a lot of influence over her and it would be in his best interests to try and reform her personality. Sami's not too far gone, just look how Jack Devereaux, rapist of Sami's Aunt Kayla, became a lovable guy after a few years of dating Jenn Horton!
  • Get him involved with The Tramp again. This could be an interesting twist if Billie falls in love with Franco. We would see a shift in Sami from trying to ruin Carrie to trying to ruin Billie, and this would put a new spin on Duh-Boy's attempt to be a part of Will's life. Also, both Bo and Roman will have some conflict, as each has been involved with Billie, and this could be just the catalyst that the show needs to get everything going again. Billie could offer to marry Franco to keep him in the U.S.A., and rescue him from the Maroni family if they try to kidnap him!
  • Have him seduce Laura Spencer Horton. She needs a little excitement in her life! Imagine Mike's chagrin, and possibly Jenn's too (if they ever bring back the real Jenn, Melissa Reeves), if they found Mom in bed with the Italian Stallion! I like it, I like it. . .

How does Franco feel about the possible formation of B&H, Inc.?

He could care less, but his involvement with Sami is distracting her from Carrie's life. He is a wild card because no ones knows what kind of an impact he could have on her behavior, or on B&H, Inc. The most important thing to watch out for is a possible fight between Duh-boy and Franco over his girlfriend, the stripper, and Carrie's reaction to it.

My opinion of the character of Franco Kelly:

I'm a bit miffed that Sally Sussman-Morina wrote him out of the Sami-Lucas-Franco-Kate storyline, if indeed she has done so. Victor Alfieri's a fine actor and I like his scenes with Sami. The first show I tuned into this past year was the first time Sami and Franco made love (May, 1998). It was so sweet, the affection that he showed for her, and her reaction to him. Victor captured a part of my heart that day. I would hate for him to leave entirely.
