- DAILY PLANET
- The Daily Planet is THE major paper in Metropolis with it's international edition being the most widely read English-language newspaper in Europe. It was founded in 1775 with a weekly Our Planet periodical and moved into it's present offices in 1938 with it's distinctive rooftop planet emblem. The paper was owned by the Lex Corp. conglomerate before being bought out by an international group put together by Perry White. The only condition imposed by the new buyers was that White had to serve as Managing Editor, a position he has held continuously since then except for the occasional illness (at one stage leading reporter Clark Kent took over the reigns).
The staff are almost as famous as the paper itself with husband and wife team of Lois Lane and Clark Kent heading the roster. Newer talent such as photographer (and former TV reporter) Jimmy Olsen and reporter Ron Troupe have added to the great paper. A slump in newspaper sales during the last decade have resulted in a number of other staff being hired including Catherine Grant (their Hollywood columnist who would go onto a TV career), Dirk Armstrong (a conservative columnist) and Simone D'Neige (who was brought in the publishers against the wishes of Perry White to add a more populist angle to the paper).
The slump in sales at the Planet continued to the point where the owners were forced to sell. The paper and staff were snapped up by Lexcorp who fired a large margin of the staff including editor Perry White and reporter Clark Kent. The remaining staff (including Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane and Dirk Armstrong) under Simone D'Neige were moved to Lexcom, a high tech infoservice centre run out of Luthor's new Hypersector.

The DEO is a small organisation that is run as a join project by the FBI, CIA and a number of other government bodies. Its main responsibility is monitering and information gathering with respect to the metahuman community. DEO agents operate in much the say way as FBI agents do. The Director is actually a metahuman himself and was formally a member of Infinity Inc as Mister Bones.
The DEO also has a shadowy side to it that most people do not suspect, it keeps a number of facilities around the country which is uses to house young metahumans taken from their parents to be "trained" in the use of their power. The existance of one of these facilities was revealled by Young Justice when they joined up with the Secret (herself a form DEO prisioner). Investigations by Agent Chase of the DEO and other people seems to have stamped out these practices as least in the short term.
- D'NEIGE, SIMONE
