The Justice League of America (JLA) was founded just over ten years ago by a quintet of heroes in response to the threat of alien invasion. The name of the team was concieved during the press launch of the team in Gotham City as a homage to their predicessors the Justice Society of America (JSA). Twelve years later the team restructured to a core group of seven heroes in order to face the new menaces of the twenty-first century.
