Episode #1 in a three chapter arc begins with a kidnapping and a conspiracy theory. So who's next?

Analysis

I have to admit, the first 15 minutes of this episode were mere seconds away from receiving an automatic 0. Building sand castles? Give me a freakin break! And for the record, I personally thought the "Picking up Trash" mission was the lowest of the low, but this week's installment takes the cake!

Their mission: pink T-shirt (Neil) tells the kids to build a sand castle in remembrance to a certain experience (Mission or otherwise) they've had on the trip. But Brian constructing a castle of the Mayan ruins (He said they visited) and Josh/Sarah building a castle in refernce to the nose rings they both acquired in Cancun belong in the "We the viewers never saw" file, and suggest a major screw-up in the BMP editing booth.

Why do the producers insist on airing certain segments of castmembers speaking in reference to crap we never got the privilege of viewing our selves? Which in turn, only serves to irritate the heck out of you.

And for once on this trip, I find myself agreeing with Abe whole heartily. It seems the producers are scraping the bottom of the barrel this season when it comes to the missions. Either that, or B-M's liability insurance has jumped through the roof; therefore, they're not willling to force the cast into participating in extremely physical-borderline dangerous mission for the fear of a potential lawsuit if one of the cast were injured. Therefore, if there was any justice in this world, Abe should've received first prize from the beach comers.

Like I earlier said...the first 15 minutes are pretty much unwatchable, and I would suggest channelsurfing. The second half of the episode starts to improve some with the guys and girls going head-to-head in a battel of the sexes for a brand spanking new (Pink shirt said) kayak. Abe ends up winning in a show of irony since he was the front runner in the--"This mission sucks!" campaign!

Then the beginning of the chapter arc came when the Roadies received a clue telling them to head to a local food mart. And wouldn't you know it! After dragging Menudo with him just about EVERYWHERE, Abe decides to leave him behind in the room just in time for the renegade bandit to come snatch the pooch, Doh!

But is all of this just a set-up intended to entice viewers? Is Abe and the rest of the group that incompetent to leave Menudo behind this one occasion after carring him around with them on mission, hotels, sightseeing, etc? If so, then I can now see why the producers didn't allow them to take a vote on Gladys. Plus Abe's hissy-fit reaction over Menudo's abduction seemed a little shallow and forced to me.

And what was the whole hacking frame-up on Abe all about? Where are they going with this? Who's next on the renegade hit list? Who are these renegade bandits anyhow? Too many questions that I don't have the answers to yet. Hopefully next week we'll get more insight.

NEXT WEEK: Chapter Two: As the season end nears, there's nowhere to go but up!

Jump straight to "El Predator". Or go back to "Image Is Evereything".
