After the success of Final Fantasy Series, SQUARE is trying to bring a new title for RPG. They try to set up standard of this RPG game to a new hype, "XENOGEARS". In the Japanese advertise of this game, they say that Xenogears is a combination of FFVII and Seiken Densetsu [Secret of Mana]. But, most of us tought that it is pretty similar to Chorono Trigger instead. Well, whatever, this game had many elements of SQUARE's previous RPG and anime movie. I guess I can only describe it briefly to you guys. What can I say about "Xenogears"..., of all RPG out there, I think I can say that it is such a good game. Although, the graphic is not as good as FFVII. It does not use CG Rendering background like the FFVII. Instead, it is all in polygons, all in 3D world. You can actually rotate the camera 360°. It is good though but I think it is quite similar to the Saturn's Grandia. [also in true 3D] Anyway, it gave a new approach to the RPG games out there. One more thing, you can actually use the "Jump" button in this game. If I am not wrong, it might be the first game for SQUARE's RPG to use the "Jump" button, which is great. But, somehow, it can be very frustrated when you play the game. Like..., if you miss a jump in the dungeon. You might have to start to work your way over again. But, overall, I still think this is a great game. There are lots of anime cutscenes during the game. The opening intro is really great. The battle is kind of mix Chorono Trigger and Combo Commands, which gave a new kind of control to the battle. You can also use the Gears [Mecha Robot] when you are in some battles. Let's not forget, the Active Time Battle [ATB] of FF series is also use in the battle system. After heard quite a number of rumors about Xenogears...., such as it will not be release in the US because of the religious matters. Well, at last we know that it will be coming to the US shore for sure. Of course, by SQUARE EA., a new company which will distribute SQUARE Japanese game to the US market. Well, I think this is good news because I guess most of us are having hard time understanding Japanese language. The press release stated that it will be coming within this year. I guess it should be somewhere around this coming Christmas. So, we're just gonna have to wait...
