Chapter 4: The Battle

When the going gets tough, the tough get going. But when the tough get going, are the tough even tough enough?


 "Okay, guys, Marle, Crono, you're both back to normal." Lucca said with a 
reliefed grin.
 "Whew, that's a relief!" Marle wiped her brow. Having to stay as one of those
Reptites would've been gross.
As the Epoch flew on, something rather strange happened. Magus somewhere along
the way turned back into a human (if an Enlightened one is considered human).
This scared the pants off him, because for all he had known he had beaten
Lavos as a Reptite. Crono and Lucca calmed him, and the Epoch landed. All that
in five seconds. 
The forest of 65 Million B.C. seemed to waver, potiential danger seemed to
come from it. Heavy smoke layered the air, and the group was afraid to look.
 "C-C-Crono! The village! It's burning!"
They all turned around to see Marle's statement was true.
 "Hey, you, stop that!" Lucca shouted at the top of her lungs.
The reptites stopped, and stared at her. 
 "I thought he said the humans were going to die!" "Who are these guys?"
"Uh oh, they may stop us from destroying the last of the humans.."
Frog took this stunned oppertunity. He glared a wink at Marle. He raised his
small arms into the air, as Marle put her's together.
 "Power of wave, Water 2!" Frog shouted.
 "Glaciers of ice, Ice 2!" Marle whispered.
Marle just hoped the Ice wouldn't crush what was left of the buildings. To 
her surprise, the fire burnt from the Ice, which easily melted. Frog's mist
of Water was enough to stifle the rest. The burning stopped.
Crono took his ever knowledgable advice into the event again.
 "I think I know the best groups. Marle, you and I will take the left part of
the village. Robo, you go with Magus to the right. Since there are most
Reptites in the center, Ayla, Lucca, and Frog will go there. This leaves a 
healer in ever party."
The groups took their respective positions.
 "Crono, there's fifteen of them. Let's take them down."
Crono did a quick flip over a reptite, and slice a sword through the back.
Marle had quite a time, surrounded by two reptites and only a shooting weapon.
So...
Marle thwacked the two Reptites smack across the face, making Lucca, about
50 yards away, shout, "You go girl!" before using her WonderShot on the 
Reptite in front of her.
Crono kick a Reptite out of his way, before catching up to Marle.
 "Marle," he spoke, as rarely he did, as he slashed at a Reptite. "Do you
think you can remember Ice Sword 2?"
 "Sure can!" She responded, launching a Valyereye arrow at a Reptite.
Crono kicked and pushed the rest of the Reptites into a small group, and gave
the symbol.
 "Glaciers of Ice, Ice 2!" She shrieked, sending the Ice Power to Crono's 
ready sword.
He lept into the air, and struck the sword down with such a force. It relieved
him to know he could still do it. The Reptites perished.
 "All right, Crono! All enemies finished."

Are there no end to these Reptites, Lucca thought, chucking a bomb at a 
small group.
Frog was brought to the ground. Five Reptites had jumped him and were now
punching wildly at him. No matter how weak they were, five Reptites is still
pretty harsh.
Ayla was ready. She picked up another Reptite, and chuckled. She chucked it
at Frog, and this sent the Reptites flying off of him. Frog hopped up, and the
battle continued.
Lucca was completely surrounded. Reptites from the left and right were all
coming to get her. She found herself stuck...
Unless...
Lucca concentrated to her full.....
The blows of the Reptites didn't feel like much, because she was deep in 
concentration...
She spuns around, twice, and hoisted an arm into the air. The Reptites turned 
to see a large red beam come out of the center of the arena. Before they knew
it, they were engulfed in exploding flames.
Finished.
Lucca gasped. She had thought she lost magic! How is this.....possible?
Frog and Ayla finished off the rest, and ran off to help Crono and Marle.

Magus felt the blow from the Commander Reptites. It was a spear, right into 
the stomach. He saw the DoomSickle in his hand start to glow, and swooped down
on the leader, as the DoomSickle cackled a strange lightning....
The Commander was dead in a moment.
But the Reptites raged on. The command was dead! How could they keep fighting?
Unless that was only the 2nd commander.
Magus fell to his knees. His stomach hurt from the blow of the pike.
It hurt. 
Alot.
Robo saw the condition, and was about to press the Cure Beam switch located
near his wrist, before being surrounded. Great, now what? If he were to use the
beam now, one of the Reptites would take the HP. And Magus will die soon without
treatment. Unless...
Robo thought for a moment, defending the blows. His arm reached down to a red
button near the hip. He put his arm on his head, to prepare for the fire of
Area Bomb. A small circle surrounded him, and anyone within 10 feet of him, 
perished. Robo was safe. He used up a little power, and cured Magus so that he
could at least defend himself.
But there were too much. They just seemed to be appearing faster than could
count. The group would easily die. Too many Reptites.
Maybe their work wasn't enough to save their future.
Maybe their work just wasn't enough.
