Ophelia was one of the youngest individuals ever granted full rights of an Inquisitor. Even at 17 years of age she was considered one of the most intelligent and zealous members of the Ordo Hereticus. Her master at that time, Inquisitor Quelleus, made it his dying request that the young woman be admitted as a full member of the Inquisition, a request that was granted even as his last breath rose and fell. Now, five short years later, Ophelia has surpassed even Quelleus' expectations as she has rigorously hunted down many heretics in the line of her work, rooting out and destroying Chaos Cults and other dark organisations. Her zealous attitude and her sharp tongue have earned her many enemies within the Ordos of the Inquisition, and her slowly emerging Psychic abilities arouse the suspicions of some of her fellow Hereticus members, such as the hard-line witch hunter Tyrus.
Though young in terms of physical age, Ophelia has learned far more about the perils and possible uses of Chaos and the energies of the Warp than many others feel comfortable with. Her study of the malign artifacts she has taken from the victims of her purges have granted her an intimate knowledge of the ways of Chaos that people like Tyrus consider dangerous to the point of reckless. Ophelia protects herself from accusation by aligning with more powerful members of the Ordos who share her viewpoint, most notably Inquisitor Orestes, her former Master's most trusted ally, and a very old and well-respected Inquisitor, high enough in the chain of power as to be a shield from Tyrus' overbearing philosophies.
Ophelia has developed other contacts during her travels, including the Privateer known as Juan Ramirez. Her first meeting with him was during a contract with him to transport a powerful talisman from a backwater world to her base of operations on her homeworld of Janus III. Since that time she has developed an attraction to him, to the point of affection, though she hides this even from him, considering it ill-advised to enter into any kind of relationship with a business associate. However, it is unclear how long she can continue to work with the man without revealing her secret and either overcoming her inhibitions or pushing him away permanently. She has already betrayed herself in small ways, such as sacrificing her own body by taking a bullet for him. Though the wound was not crippling or fatal, it did put her out of comission for several days, during which she had plenty of time to think about the foolishness of her actions - and the possibilities that time could provide...
Polonius is a trained Hunting Falcon that Ophelia acquired as a gift from Inquisitor Orestes, her former Master's closest ally, upon attaining the rank of Inquisitor. Genetically enhanced and trained for loyalty, he is a very stalwart companion, and the young Ophelia treats him very much as a pet rather than a tool, though she does not hesitate to put him in the same dangerous positions she gladly throws herself into. Though he has been injured several times, the noble bird of prey has always bounced back and remained as faithful as ever to his master.
