Juan Ramirez is a quiet man, and when he does speak his words are few, powerful and carefully chosen. He conducts himself in a calm, dignified manner whether he is doing business or in the midst of chaotic combat. Three years ago he first encountered Inquisitor Ophelia, summoned by her to transport a dangerous chaos artifact for further study. Since that time, he has continued to work with her on occasion, developing a lasting bond of mutual trust and respect, which he would describe aloud as friendship, though he secretly hopes that it could turn into something more, despite the ten year difference in their ages. The two have been through a lot together, and Ophelia once took a bullet meant for Ramirez, a debt that he considers still to be paid.
Ramirez makes his living as a free trader, moving from system to system within Imperial space, profiting from the vagaries of supply and demand. He has an uncanny knack for knowing just what commodities will be valuable where and when, partially attributed to his near fanatical interest in current events. He can most often be found reading reports of uprisings, invasions and battles, using this information to formulate a strategy for picking his commodities. Due to his affiliation with Inquisitor Ophelia, however, he resists the temptation to engage in contraband smuggling and gun-running, fearing to incite her displeasure. He doesn't let that stop him however, and he has even been known to work a trade run in with the assignments he takes up for her.
