Five-star sites

These sites have lots of links and/or very high-quality original material. These sites stand out as the best chess sites on the web, IMHO. These sites were evaluated on my scoring system as having a score of 150 or higher.

• Bill Wall's Chess Page Score = 253 THE BEST!
  This site is ranked as the BEST CHESS SITE ON THE WEB because it has a massive amount of links, all categorized intricately, and a great amount of study material.

• The Mining Company Score = 210
  This site is definitely not to be missed. Administered by David Dunbar, this site includes a great deal of resources for chess players.

• Steve Pribut's Chess Page Score = 201
  This site belongs to the author of the Chess FAQs and has the most up-to-date version of the FAQ files.

• This Week In Chess Score = 193
  This site is probably the best site on the web for weekly news from the world of chess. It contains a vast amount of material and includes many games. Also has an alternate emergency site

• Red Planet's Chess Space Score = 182
  A very good and well-index commercial list of links.

• Christer Sundqvistin's Forum Datorum Score = 170
  Contains a large amount of links though some are outdated.

• Stuart the Maniac's Chess Closet Score = 166
  What can I say? One-stop shopping! ;-)

• Chess Links by Harris Score = 163
  A really good list of links on a personal home page.

• Quah Seng Sun's Chess News Score = 155
  A good source for chess news and up-to-date tidbits and games.

• Traveller Chess -- Chess Archives Score = 150
  An excellent site for lessons, chess education and reference materials. Contains some chess graphics for download. Not many links.

• University of Pittsburgh Chess Page Score = 150
  This page is a frames site containing a decent collection of links, mostly in alphabetical order. Has a link to the U. Pitt games archive.

Four-star sites

These sites have a good deal of links and/or good original material. These sites were evaluated on my scoring system as having a score of 120 to 149.
