What is the difference between XvT and SWSC ranking?
As you would know, your rank in XvT is based on your skill, which is determined by the rank of your enemies whom you were able to defeat. The scores that you gained does not contribute directly to your rank. As such XvT's ranking can be taken as a measure of the pilot's SKILL.
SWSC's rank is more complicated. It is determined by 5 factors, namely Seniority, Skill, Level of Participation, Field Performance and Appointment.

How is SWSC rank determined?
Ranking Points(RP) will be assigned to each area described above based on a Ranking Chart (described below). All the points will be added up to give the final Pilot Ranking Value(PRV). PRV will then determine the rank that the pilot is eligible for. With the eligibility, the pilot concerned can then apply to his direct superior ,eg., Squadron Commander, to be promoted. The superior will then review and verify his RPs and PRV, and arrange for a meeting (probably through a combat) to determine whether he/she can be promoted. Once either a promotion or a demotion has occured, the Commander who comissioned the 'promotion' or 'demotion' will then update the formation homepage(eg, squad or wing) and EC of the changes.

Will I be promoted automatically once I achieve the necessary PRV?
No. You must apply to your direct superior who will arrange for a Ranking Exercise to assess you before deciding whether to promote you or not. If the rank that you apply for is beyond the authority of your direct superior, he/she will refer you to a higher chain of command.

Is there a limit to the rank that I can attain?
There is a 'quota' for some ranks, meaning that there can only be a certain number of pilots in SWSC who can hold a certain rank. This apply especially for higher ranks. However, the ranks that can be authorised by Squadron Commanders are not limited by this rule. Those ranks that are in 'quota' will be revealed in the Ranking Chart.

What can I do if I am applying for a rank of which the quota is full?
There's a few ways you can attain the rank you want. Firstly, you can wait for vacancies to be available. Or, you can challenge one of the pilots who is holding the rank that you are interested in. This can be arranged by the Field Commander who is authorised to commission the rank by your request. You can choose the pilot whom you want to challenge or it can be chosen randomly by the Commander concerned. If the challenged pilot is absent without valid reason, the challenging pilot will attain the new rank by default and the challenged pilot will be demoted to the next lower rank.

What is the training period?
As a pilot gets promoted, he has to hold more responsiblities and be posted to more senior positions. This arrangement will expose you to different SWSC pilots and will group you with those who are as good as you.
Ranks up to Commander are considered 'Squadron Rank', those from Deck Officer to Master Major are 'Wing Rank', those from Lt. Colonal to Flotilla Commodore are 'Flotilla Rank' and those from Jedi to Fleet Admiral are 'Fleet Rank'.
For example, John holds the rank of Commander and is currently posted in a Squadron. Now that he has enough PRVs to be promoted to Deck Officer, he has to do 2 things:

  1. Apply to his direct superior for a Ranking Exercise, and
  2. Apply to hold a position in the Wing by getting in contact with his Wing Commander. If there is no vacancies in the Wing that he belongs to, John should get in contact with the Executive Council for other possible vacancies.
As the rank Deck Officer is under the authority of Wing Commander, John can only attain the rank of Deck Officer when he satisfied his Wing Commander that he deserves the position in the Wing HQ squadron.

What is the authority of respective Field Commander in respect to promotion or demotion?
Each level of Commander will have power to promote or demote pilots within a bracket of SWSC ranks that he/she is authorised to commission. Example is that a Squadron Commander may have the authority to promote up to the rank of Captain and demote down to Cadet Trainee. However, a Wing Commander has the authority to promote up to the rank of Deck Lieutenant and demote down to Cadet Trainee also.
Formation Executive Officers(XO) are not authorised to commission any ranks, even by the Commanders' appointment.

What can I do if I think I am unfairly treated during the Ranking Exercise?
We would suggest that the pilot concerned try to resolve the issue with the Commander who conducted the exercise. If all means failed, you can submit your grievances to the Executive Council(EC).

Are Field Commanders subjected to these guidelines?
Yes. Field Commanders have to accumulate their PRV like any other pilots. However, they may attain their SWSC ranks by virtue of his/her command appointment on a 'temporary basis' (the title will be eg., Commander [temp]). Once he /she accumulated enough PRV to be eligible for the rank, he/she will be promoted to that rank automatically. However, such 'automatic' promotion has to be reported to direct superior and EC once it occur.

Who will monitor my Pilot Ranking Value?
Each pilot has to maintain a Pilot Log Book on all his/her battles and Ranking Points Gained. The direct superior of the pilot concerned will have to keep track of the pilot's RPs for each area and PRV. The information has to be updated on their formation homepage. The Executive Coucil will then be notified of any rank changes by the commander concerned, i.e., if the pilot is in a Squad, the SC will have to maintain and update the pilot's RPs and PRVs, and to notify EC of any such changes. Pilots will be ordered to submit their log from time to time for spot checks. Pilots found not keeping a good log will have their RPs deducted and face the consequence of possible demotion. Any dishonest attempts or cheats found will be contravening The Code, and the pilot will face the consequence.

What is so special about SWSC's ranking system?
The system is based on trust and dissemination of power to respective Field Commanders. The commanders are given autonomy over the running of their formation. As record keeping is manual (sorry!), it is important that each pilot do their part.
