Unofficial Glossary

Yeah, I got a lot of these from Johnathan. So sue me. BWA HA HA and associated entries are suggested by Cape-Mike. Spiteful anti-Elfid entries suggested by Sailor Ice Blade. Endymonsaman, Pikachu, and cabbit entries suggested by J-me. For more info on common Japanese phrases, check out the glossary at the Yale Anime Society page.

A

Akaena Elfid /a KEH nah EL' fid/ - 1. A damn annoying eternal newbie who coined the phrase Omnipotent Newbie Syndrome and has a history of creating characters that either get ignored or kicked out of the Wars! See also "Akaena Elfid Syndrome".
Akaena Elfid Syndrome /a KEH nah EL' fid SIN' drohm/ - The condition of creating multiple characters with horribly tragic pasts and omnipotent powers. Said resulting characters are typically ignored out of existence.
Amichanian /ah' mee CHAHN' ee uhn/ - A worshipper or follower of Mizuno Ami, Sailor Mercury.
Arc /ARK/ - 1. Any collection of Threads with a common plotline. Usually controlled by one or two Author's who start, progress, and finally finish it. 2. A big boat.
Arr! /AR'/ - A Pook!ish word.
Arrr! /AHR/ - A pirate word.
Author /AW' thur/ - Mythical beings which are believed to write and control Characters' actions by writing Posts. Often considered superstitious nonsense.
Author Avatar /AW' thur A' vuh tar'/ - A character based on their corresponding Author.

B

Baka or Bakka /BAH' kah/ - Idiot. Moron. Numbskull. Nitwit.
Big-Name Otaku /BIHG NEIM oh TAH' koo/ - Any Otaku that is so famous as to instantly be recognized by name alone, by Newbies and Otaku alike.
Bii-Da! /BEE' dah/ - The act of pulling down an eyelid and sticking out the toungue.
Bit! /BIT/ - 1. Past-tense of "bite." 2. A Pook!ish word, signifying an assault with the teeth. 3. A Mike!ish word, signifying an assault with the teeth. 4. Those things you stick in a horse's mouth. 5. A small amount.
Brainwashee /BRAYN wahsh EE'/ - One who has been subjected to brainwashing.
Brainwashing /BRAYN wah shing/ - A vastly overused plot device in which a character's thoughts and personality are changed to someone else's liking.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA!!! /BWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH/ - An example of an evil laugh. See also "Evil laugh" and "*THUMP*".

C

Cabbit /KAB bit/ - A creature of alien origin that resembles a rabbit-cat hybrid. It eats carrots. It is also a spaceship.
Caffine /ka FEEN/ - A naturally-occouring analgesic that is a stimulant. Essential dietary supliment of most Otaku Warriors.
-chan /CHAHN/ - A Japanese honorific denoting familiarity.
Chan, Jackie /CHAN, JA' kee/ - A cool martial arts movie star who does his own stunts.
Chaos /KAY' ohs/ - 1. A state of disorder or entropy. 2. A demi-godlike character who is the embodiment of said state. 3. The natural state of being in the Otaku Wars!
Chi /CHEE/ - Chinese word for energy, particularly that of the spirit. See also, "KI"
Chibi /CHEE bee/ - (Japanese) Small. A pipsqueak, usually descriptive of small children.
Chibify /CHI' bi fai/ - To render someone chibi.
Continuity /con tih NOO' ih tee/ - A mythical concept, in which any one Post directly follows another, or can be placed chronologically with respect to other Posts. Rarely ever found naturally, it has been created artificially at times in order to understand what the hell is going on.
Created Character /cree AY' ted KA rik tur/ - A character NOT based on their corresponding Author.
Cunning Plan© /KUHN' ning PLAN/ - A plan that is usually devious or cunning. Reichanians come up with lots of these.

D

Darkmoonchanians or Darkmoonians /dark MOON' CHAHN' ee uhnz/ or /dark MOON' ee uhnz/ - Followers of the Dark Moon Legion.
DEATH BASTARDS /DETH bas' terds/ - A faction devoted to being evil.
Discontinuity /dis kohn ti NOO' i tee/ - The natural state of OtakuWorld, in which multiple conflicting Posts occur simultaneously.
D'OH! /DO'/ - An interjection, usually showing disapointment.
Doppleganger /DOP' puhl gang' er/ - Someone who looks just like someone else.
Dub-leganger /DUB' buhl gang' er/ - Someone who looks exacly like someone else, but has had his/her voice dubbed over in another languae, typically with much less personality.

E

Ecchi or Eechi /EH' chee/ - Lech or pervert.
Eeeeeeeeeh! /??/ - Jocko's only word. It means... something.
Elf /ELF/ - 1. A mythical creature that abounds in many fantasy novels, usually known for pointed ears. 2. Akaena Elfid. See also "Akaena Elfid".
Endymonsaman /EN dih mon SAH mahn/ - see MAMOCHANIAN.
Evil Laugh /EE' vuhl LAFF/ - to laugh in an intimidating manner. See also "BWA HA HA HA HA HA" and "*THUMP*".

F


Faction /FAK' shun/ - A group of characters who pledge to fight for the same cause, often named after a particular Senshi.
Fuku /FOO' koo/ - (Japanese) Literally, any type of clothing. It connotes a Sailor Fuku, a stylized sailor outfit.

G

Galaxiasaman /gah LAKS' ee ah SAH mahn/ - Worshippers or followers of Sailor Galaxia.

H

Hentai /HEN tai/ - (Japanese) Perverted or deviant, usually with sexual connotations.
Hontoo /HON' to/ - 1. (Japanese) True. 2. As a question, means Really?

I

Insane /in SAYN'/ - The resulting state of reading to many Otaku Wars! Posts.
Ikimasu /EE ki MAHS/ - (Japanese) Let's go!
Itai /EE' tai/ - (Japanese) OW!
Ite /EE' teh/ - see Itai

J

Jawa /JAH' wah/ - Short little scavengers in brown hooded robes and luminescent eyes. Native to Tatooine. Many of them are employed by Jason Bramlett.
Justifiable Homocide /juhs tuh FAI' uh buhl HOH' muh SAID/ - Killing a nameless otaku for purposes of comedy, plot advancement, or cool effect.

K

Kawaii /kah WAI' ee/ - (Japanese) Cute. Sometimes nausiatingly so.
Ki /Kee/ - Japanese word for energy of the spirit.
Kowai /koh WAI/ - (Japanese) Scary. Sometimes as the result of being too kawaii.
Kuso or K'so /ku SOH'/ - (Japanese) Damn!
-kun /KOON/ - A Japanese honorific that denotes familiarity, but slightly less so than "-chan"

L

La /LA'/ - a note to follow "So"
Lunarian /loo NAIR ee an/ - Worshiper or follower of Sailor Moon and the rest of the Moon Family, but not necessarily Usagi Tsukino.

M

Makochanian /mah ko CHAHN' ee ahn/ - A worshipper or follower of Makoto Kino.
Mamochanian /mah moh CHAHN' ee ahn/ - A worshipper or follower of Mamoru Chiba.
Mass Destruction /MAS dis TRUK' shuhn/ - Causing large ammounts of destruction, like Godzilla. Something fun to do when you're bored.
Minna or Miina /MEE nah/ - 1. (Japanese) Everyone. 2. The dubbed name of Minako Aino.
Minakochanian /MEE' nah ko CHAHN' ee uhn/ - A worshipper or follower of Minako Aino.
Minpire /MIN' pair/ - The former group of the three original Minakochanians, back in their collective hey day.
M.O.D. Squad /MOHD' skwahd/ - MakOchanian Doom Squad. An evil Makochanian splinter faction.

N


Name /NAYM/ - An important thing to have, if you want to live.
Named Otaku /NAYMD oh TAH' koo/ - Any otaku with a name. Being named automatically exempts an Otaku from being killed. This is a good thing.
Nameless Otaku /NAYM les oh TAH' koo/ - The majority of the population of OtakuWorld, the Nameless Otaku are just like regular otaku, except they don't have names. This tends to make them prone to fatal accidents.
Nani /NAH ni/ - (Japanese) What? Huh?
Neko /NE ko/ - (Japanese) Cat.
Neutralian /noo TRAL ee uhn/ - One who advocates the "Can't we all just get along?" angle.
Newbie /NOO' bee/ - Any character who has not yet attained true Otakuhood. If you have to ask what one is, you are one.
Newbie Class /NOO' bee KLAS/ - The class of a Newbie, created and assigned by Johnathan. Used to further separate Newbies and determine the potential each has to become true Otaku.
Newbiehood /NOO' bee hud/ - The state of being a Newbie.
NO /EN OH/ - see Nameless Otaku

O

Omnipotence /om NI' po TENS/ - A baaaaaaaaaad thing (acc'd to Sailor Ice Blade ) To be more specific, it's a negative trait usually characterized by being vastly more powerful than other characters.
Omnipotent Newbie Syndrome /om NI' po tent NOO' bee SIN drohm/ - The Syndrome which results in creating new characters who are vastly more powerful than others, thus Omnipotent. This is not a good thing.
ONS /OH EN ES/ - see Omnipotent Newbie Syndrome
Otaku /oh TAH' koo/ - Any character who has played long enough to escape the shackles of Newbiehood. Also, all characters in general.
Otaku Warrior /oh TAH' koo WOR' ee ehr/ - An Otaku who takes up a faction alignment (usually) and fights for... some reason or another (or no reason at all) in the Otaku Wars!
Otaku Wars! /oh TAH' koo worz/ - A vast, ongoing FanFic style RPG, in which numerous characters do stuff. (see Otaku Wars! R)
Otaku Wars! R /oh TAH' koo worz AHR'/ - The second season of the Otaku Wars!. Noone knows what the R stands for, but it doesn't really matter.
OtakuWorld /oh TAH' koo WUHRLD/ - The world on which the Otaku Wars! take place.
OW! /OW!/ - 1. An exclamation of extreme pain. 2. An acronym for Otaku Wars! (see Otaku Wars!)
OW!R /??/ - see Otaku Wars! R

P

Pikachu /PEE' ka CHOO/ - 1. A round, yellow Pokemon with big, pointed ears. 2. The only word that such a creature uses.
Piku /PEE ku/ - 1. To hold a blank expression on one's face and blink. A sign that one is confused. 2. The audible sound made by the blinking.
Plot /PLOT/ - The reason for an Arc, the underlying goal.
Plot Advancement /PLOT ad VANS' ment/ - Any Post which causes a Plotline to progress, usually characterized by revealing new formation, changing of location, etc.
Plot Device /PLOT di VAIS'/ - Any technique used to create a Plot.
Plot Hole /PLOT HOL/ - An overused Plot Device which allows any Otaku or group of Otaku to appear in another thread with no further explanation necessary or provided.
Plushie /PLUH' shee/ - A plush toy, as like a teddy bear or stuffed Luna toy.
Plushify /PLUH' shi fai/ - A vastly overused Plot Device which results in characters becoming Plushie versions of themselves.
Pook! /POOK!/ - A variety of female Otaku that runs around naked, except for strategically-placed foliage. Likes to Pounce! and Bit!
Pook!a /POOK!' ah/ - A Pook!ish word.
Post /POST/ - 1. Any single article, written by an Author. Usually organized by Threads. 2. A large protrusion from the ground, usually wooden and cylindrical. 3. A major breakfast cereal corporation.

Q

Quarter /KWOHR' tuhr/ - 1. A one-fourth portion. 2. A one-fourth portion of a calendar year used for measuring fiscal dealings. 3. A coin deposited into a pay phone to call someone who cares.
Quest /KWEST/ - A journey undertaken by Otaku for a specific purpose. Usually, they are poorly planned.

R

Redundancy /re DUHN' den see/ - 1. Explaining something in more words than is necessary. 2. More repetition than is needed or wanted.

Reichanians /rei CHAHN' ee ahns/ - Worshippers or followers of Rei Hino.

S

-sama /SAH' mah/ - Japanese honorific that denotes great respect and/or admiration.
-san /SAHN/ - Japanese honorific that denotes some respect. Good all-purpose honorific.
Scout /SKOWT/ - see Senshi. Please.
Senshi /SEN' shee/ - 1. The original title of the Sailors, which DiC had later translated as Scout for some strange, inexplicable reason. Usage of this term is vastly preferred over use of Scout. 2. (Japanese) Soldier or Warrior.
Shadow Shogunate /SHA doh SHO guh nut/ - A collusion of evil people.
Shimatta or Shimata /shee MAH' tah/ - (Japanese) Dangit!
Shine /shee NEH'/ - (Japanese) Die!
Sugoi /su GOY'/ - (Japanese) Cool!

T

Thread /THRED/ - 1. Any collection of Posts with a common subject header. Each post usually relates directly to other posts in the Thread. 2. Thin strands or fibers used to sew pieces of material together.
*THUMP* /THUMP/ - 1. An onomotopia (sound effect) that is dull and blunt in sound, often resulting from impact. 2. To impact something such that it would cause such a sound. 3. The usual conclusion to when Cape-Mike laughs evilly and does not breathe. See also "Evil laugh" and BWA HA HA HA HA HA.
To Be Continued /TOO BEE kon TIN' yood/ - Used at the end of most posts, inviting other Authors to continue a post at that point.

Usagishanian /oo SAH gee CHAHN' ee uhn/ - A worshipper or follower of Tsukino Usagi.

V

Veechanian /vee CHAHN' ee uhn/ -A worshipper or follower of Sailor V, though not necessarily Sailor Venus or Minako Aino.

W

The Wars! /thuh WOHRZ/ - see Otaku Wars!
Waffle Batter /WAH' fuhl BAT tehr/ - A slimy, yellowish concoction, which produces Waffles when cooked properly. The preferred form of nourishment for really old guys.
Writer's Guide /RAI' tehrs GAID/ - A brief collection of character information, used as a reference for other Authors who wish to write him/her in a post.

X

X /EKS/ - 24th letter of the alphabet. It marks the spot.

Y

Yurusenai /yoo ROO seh NAI'/ - (Japanese) I will not forgive you!

Z

Zyzyva /ZI' zi vah/ - A type of weevil.
