(Earthbound II: Pokey's Revenge: Episode 1)
Was written by Everdred on 1/30/00. • Prologue • After Ness and his friends detroyed Giygas, evil slowly vanished from the world. The earth was a peaceful place. Pokey, on the other hand, was still under the influence of Giygas over the evil side of his mind, even though Giygas was no more. They have decided the only thing left to do is kill Pokey... • Episode 1: The Reincarnation • Ness looked up at the site of the meteor landing, which seemed like it happened so long ago, yet, it was only a few months, that he started his journey. Now, in its place stood the Onett Penitentiary, which was built to do away with the final evils of the world. Their last job was to give Pokey the death penalty, then break down the building, hoping never to use it again. • "Tonight's the night..." Ness said as the moon rised slowly over the prison. • "Yup," Picky said. "I wonder why Pokey didn't turn back to normal?" • "I dunno," Ness said as he wiped his forehead with his baseball cap. It was getting very hot recently. "Could it be that Giygas switched minds with Pokey?" • "Why'd Giygas choose Pokey for that! I mean, look at him!" • "Hmmm... You've got a point..." • "C'mon, Ness, it's sooooooo hot out here! I'm going home..." • "Okay, but I'm staying here," Ness said. Then, Ness wondered, "Why is it so hot this late at night?" • Meanwhile... • Pokey is being dragged down a long corridor, filled with empty jail cells. He has been sentenced to the electric chair. • "Hey, why can't you walk instead of being dragged, fatty?" One jail guard said, huffing and puffing. • "Cause I'm too tired! And I'm not fat, it's muscle!" Pokey replied • The two jail guards and Pokey reach a door at the end of the hallway. Inside, is the dreaded electric chair. Pokey starts laughing. • "Geez, it looks like the kid's gone insane..." the second jail guard said as he hooked Pokey up. • "Could be that Giygas's evil influence is overwhelming him..." the other replied. • The two turned on the chair. Pokey continued to laugh as he was being electrocuted. Finally, the laughter stopped, and Pokey's head bowed down. • "Phew, I thought that kid would never stop laughing..." the first guard said. • "Well, should we tell them he's dead?" • "Okay, let's go." • The two walked to the door, and tried to open it up. • "It's locked! What the-" • "Wait, look!" • The two looked over at Pokey. His eyes glowed a bright yellow, then he released electricity all over the room. The two guards were electrocuted in seconds. • "Nice try, but you'll have to do better than that..." Pokey said, as he slowly ran down the corridor... • Meanwhile... • "Why haven't the guards come out yet?" Ness said as he watched the entrance. • Then, he saw a dark figure running out. "Huh?" he thought. "Weren't there two guards? • The figure came closer and closer to Ness... • "Hey! What's going on?" Ness yelled to the dark figure. No response. • Ness soon saw who the figure was: Pokey! Ness grabbed his baseball bat. • Pokey ran up to Ness. "Get outta my way, shrimp!" he said. Ness swung the bat at Pokey. Pokey laughed as it hit his head. "Ness, it seems your fighting abilities have weakened. Well, I've got a great fireworks show for you, heh heh heh..." Pokey said. Pokey then released another electric shock, this time on Ness. Ness fell to the ground. • "How'd you..." Ness said as he tried to get up. Pokey ran down the dirt path to Onett, but didn't respond to Ness. Ness then went unconscious. • Later... • Ness regained his consciousness. He found himself in his bed, his mother watching him. • "You okay, honey? You should be more careful when outside..." Ness's mom said as she walked closer to him. • "M...mom?" Ness said. He got up slowly. His back hurt. "Wait! It was Pokey! Pokey... I saw him run out of the Onett Penitentiary, then he came up to me... then I can't... remember the rest..." • "Don't worry, you'll remember the rest. I tried to call your friends, but the phones aren't workin..." • "Ugh..." Ness got up out of his bed. • "Honey!" Ness's mom yelled. "You need some rest. It'll take care of those bruises..." • "Okay, mom..." Ness said as he got in bed and went back to sleep. • In Ness's dream... • Ness could not see anything. It was completely dark. Suddenly, he saw Pokey. He heard Pokey start to talk... • "The reincarnation is almost complete! We'll get back at Ness and his friends..." • Ness then saw Onett, only it was different. Starmen were roaming the streets, Mooks were marching people out of buildings, and UFOs ran wild. All this time, he heard a chilling laughter in his head and someone whispering his name. • Ness then saw Saturn Valley. Slimey little piles marched Mr. Saturns to the Grapefruit Falls, where a gruesome stench lingered. A pathway in the waterfall opened, and they walked inside it. • Finally Ness saw Stonehedge, where Starmen roamed, and then, inside, he saw hundreds of millions of people trapped in glass tubes. Ness turned white. Then, it all vanished. Ness woke up. • Later... • Ness got out his backpack, ATM card, and baseball bat. • "Mom, I'm going south to Onett," Ness said. • "Okay, could you pick up some Lucky Sandwiches on your way back?" his mom replied. • "Okay," Ness said as he ran out the door. On the way, he found Runaway Dogs and Coil Snakes everywhere. At Onett itself, Spiteful Crows fluttered around freely. • Ness talked to many people outside. Some said they saw Pokey run through town late at night, muttering about being late for some ritual. Ness then visited a grave that was covered with moss. Ness ripped the moss off and found the words, "Buzz Buzz". Suddenly, a light shined on the grave, and out of the soil came the creature Ness met back at the meteor landing. • "Ness..." Buzz Buzz said, landing on the tombstone. "There is a strong force of evil I am sensing..." • "Buzz Buzz? How'd you..." • "Don't worry about that for now, I need to tell you something... • "Someone is attempting to channel the power from the 8 'Your Sanctuary' areas... But they are not using it for good... It is being used for a dark ritual about to happen... • "It is my guess that this could be the work of Pokey... he was talking about some sort of ritual..." • "Do you know what it is?" Ness asked. • "Yes, Ness, I do. It is my belief that the power is being used to reincarnate Giygas himself!" • "WHAT?" Ness yelled. "How can I stop him?" • "Ness... you must use your Sound Stone to take back the melodies, and the power, from the 8 'Your Sanctuary' areas. Then, you must use the 8 melodies to destroy Pokey..." • "Okay!" Ness said. Then, Buzz Buzz falls to the ground. "Where are you going?" • "Ness... I must return to my place in the Earth... good luck!"
