Was written by Everdred on 2/15/00. • Episode 4: Strange Connections • "Ness..." Paula muttered as the two walked through the cave to Peaceful Rest Valley. "Pokey passed by yesterday morning. He was muttering about Giygasia, whatever that is..." • "Humph!" The strange man from before dropped from the ceiling. "Two blind mice wandering the caves for answers..." • "Huh?" Ness questioned. • "You don't even understand what you're doing! Geez... I suppose you aren't even ready to fight the hippies..." • "Are too!" • "Oh? Is that a threat? You... standing up to me?" The man laughed. "This... is just plain silly! But... I have the time... I accept your challenge! But, I won't go easy on you!" • ????, the mysterious psychic! • ???? converted energy field types! ????'s weakness changed! • Ness tried PSI Rockin Alpha! The energy field absorbed the attack! ???? recovered 91 HP! • Paula tried PSI Shield Alpha! The energy field absorbed the shield! ???? was covered by a psychic shield! • ???? released a ball of dark energy! SMAAAAAAASH! Ness got hurt and collapsed. Paula got hurt and collapsed. Ness and Paula lost the battle. • "Heh heh, down so early? I overestimated you... you WERE a waste of time..." • Ness slowly got up. "Wh...what do you want from us?" • "Simple. You want to get rid of Pokey and Giygas, right?" • "Uh-huh." • "That's what I'm trying to do as well..." • "Huh? Why..." • The man looked to the cave's exit, which was not very far away. "Giygas... a being beyond evil. The Universal Demon... the Devil of the Galaxies... is responsible for the destruction of my home planet Khyduran..." • "What?!" • "It is a long story... Giygas, is, in fact, still alive..." • "Huh? But Pokey was talking of reviving him!" • "True... Giygas's mind is still intact, and can still influence evil. His mind was reincarnated because evil began to grow once again, but he himself cannot do any evil. His evil mind called upon the Starmen, Mooks, as well as other beings from Giygasia..." • "Giygasia? What is that?" • "Giygasia... is the Hell of the Universe. All evil is originated from there, and will return there. This is Giygas's homeworld. They opened a portal to my world, and flooded it with Giygas's evil minions." • "Huh? How?" • "It's all linked to the World of Hopes and Dreams, Magicant. Magicant has a gateway to every world imaginable... This is how hopes and dreams get to every single place. They don't, however, have a link to Giygasia. Giygas's minions, though, opened one. The first world they attacked was mine... • "Khyduran was flourishing, much like Earth was. Evil was gone, and people from all over the world were experiencing a new golden age. That is, until Giygas came. Unlike Earth, we had no warning of an attack. They came in and destroyed everything. I am from the small town of Unote. I was still your age when Khyduran was attacked. One night, I was suddenly called by my father... He told me that the Khyduranese were very unlikely to survive the attack, and told me to travel to Magicant and reach the closest world to help save them. It took a while, though, because I was often betrayed by my traveling friends, who had been influenced by Giygas. It was extremely difficult... But I managed to get here, though I am very late..." • "I can see that..." • "Khyduran is the sister world of Earth. I, though, am possibly the only surviving Khyduranese person. I have a special rock that recorded the sounds of eight so-called "Your Sanctuary" places there. It recorded them before going to Magicant and reaching Earth." • Ness looked in his backpack and dug out the Sound Stone. • "Yes! It looks very much like that!" The man reached for the Sound Stone and touched it to his forehead. "Ah... with this and my Sound Stone, we together have the Melody of Light!" • "Melody of Light?" • "It is a song able to penetrate Giygas's evil heart and destroy Giygasia. It is the only thing able to get rid of Giygas and his minions!" • "All right! Let's go!" • "Wait!" The man listened to Ness's Sound Stone again. "..." He gave it back to Ness. "The melody is faint. Someone must be tapping the power!" • Ness thought back to what Buzz-Buzz had said. "An alien named Buzz-Buzz told me that someone was trying to channel the power for evil purposes..." • The man looked up at the ceiling. "Could it be...? Ness... Pokey and Giygas must have figured out about the Melody of Light and are trying to reverse it!" • "You mean like a Melody of Darkness?" • "Exactly. This is what is probably being used to revive Giygas..." • "Then let's go!" • "No. I can't. You're the only one who can get back the melodies. You have the power of Earth behind you. Me, on the other hand, have Khyduran's power. You get back the melodies. I'll try to get to Magicant and close the gateway to Giygasia." • "All right." Ness watched the man run back to Twoson through the cave.
